Why Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor Will Be Humiliated If Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie Get to Keep Their Titles
Since losing his titles and being evicted from his Royal Lodge home over his past relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been living in exile at Sandringham. While King Charles and other royals may have thought keeping him tucked away from the press and the rest of the family was enough, there are still calls to remove him from the line of succession, and those calls have only grown louder since his arrest on Feb. 19.
Andrew’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, have kept their titles and that likely won’t change since many believe that the princesses should not have to pay for the sins of their parents. And while you would think that Andrew would at least be happy that his daughters aren’t being stripped of their HRH status because of his actions, some say he’s actually irritated by that for one selfish reason.
Royal biographer Andrew Lownie outlined that reason in his Substack “The Lownie Report.”
“Andrew of course stands on ceremony, titles and all these things are very, very important to him, and the pecking order and people bowing and curtseying,” the author said per The Mirror. “I think this is what is going to upset him now, his own daughters; he will have to bow to them.”
Fellow biographer Robert Hardman agreed, telling the Daily Mail’s Palace Confidential podcast, that Andrew won’t take that well, because now”He will have to bow to everybody — that’s assuming he’s in the room with the rest of the family.”
Currently, the king’s disgraced brother is staying in the Wood Farm property on the Sandringham estate but will be moving to Marsh Farm in the coming weeks. Since his arrest for suspicion of misconduct in public office, the former prince has kept a low profile, although he has been seen in public walking his late mother’s corgis, Muick and Sandy.
King Charles previously released a statement regarding Andrew’s arrest that read, “I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office. What now follows is the full, fair, and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.
“In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and cooperation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course. As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.”
Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, whose name also appeared hundreds of times in the Epstein files released by the U.S. Department of Justice in January, has been staying away from limelight as well and has not been seen in public for months. The former duchess was last known to be staying at a remote Irish wellness retreat called the Ballyliffin Lodge & Spa in Donegal.
