How Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor Ruined His Brother and Sister-in-Law’s Easter Plans
After King Charles announced that he was evicting Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from his lavish Royal Lodge residence in October, the former prince was in no rush to vacate the premises. As the months ticked by many were left wondering when Andrew would actually leave the 99-acre estate. Then on Jan. 30, a new batch of Jeffrey Epstein files were released by the U.S. Department of Justice.
Andrew, as well as his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson’s names appeared in those documents hundreds of times showing that they emailed the convicted sex offender on several occasions, and Andrew even exchanged family photos with Epstein. With the public’s stomach-turning, Andrew’s move out of Windsor was accelerated and on Feb. 3, he was taken from Windsor to a residence more than 100 miles away.
He was said to be temporarily staying in Wood Farm near the king’s Sandringham House in Norfolk until revoations were completed at Marsh Farm. However, Andrew decided to “drag his heels” on his next move as well and in doing so ruined Easter plans for his brother, Prince Edward, and Duchess Sophie (formerly the Countess of Wessex).
According to The Sun, Edward and Sophie wanted to stay at Wood Farm during their Easter holiday, but were unable to due to the former Duke of York still being holed up in the property. Because of that, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh were forced to use another property for their Easter break. They ended up at the Gardens House, which was once home to the estate’s head gardener.
Prince Edward did previously pay Andrew a brief visit and had a “quiet word” with him about hurrying up his move to Marsh Farm.
A source told the publication that “Andrew was evicted from Royal Lodge at Windsor but now has two homes at his disposal. He is just going back and forth between Wood Farm and Marsh Farm. It’s got to be sorted as Edward and Sophie like to use Wood Farm.”
While Andrew was banned from attending any gatherings with the royals, Prince Edward and his son, James, were seen walking to the Easter service with the rest of the family on April 5. Sophie was not there as the duchess was feeling “under the weather.” Their daughter, Lady Lousie, was absent as well as she is currently a student at St. Andrews University in Scotland.
Andrew has only been seen in public on a few occassions since his move to Norfolk and arrest for “suspicion of misconduct in public office” on Feb. 19.
Following his brother’s arrest, King Charles released a statement that read, “I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office. What now follows is the full, fair, and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.
“In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and cooperation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course. As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.”
