Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson Ready to Start Dating Other People Now as They Are Set to Live Apart
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, have been living under the same roof for nearly two decades, but that’s about to change and they are both reportedly ready to start dating other people.
Despite divorcing in 1996, Andrew and Sarah started living together again in 2008.
Fergie once told Daily Mail, “We’re the happiest divorced couple in the world. We’re divorced to each other, not from each other … We really believe in each other … We’re totally respectful of each other’s position and thoughts and we listen to each other … And we sit round the table and have afternoon tea together. It’s a very important part of our lives.”
But now their time in the lavish 30-room Royal Lodge estate they shared in Windsor has come to an end.
That’s because after mounting pressure for years over his association with Jeffrey Epstein, Andrew finally relinquished his Duke of York title. Two weeks later, King Charles brought down the hammer and stripped Andrew of the “prince” title he was born with. The monarch also ordered his brother and Sarah to vacate Royal Lodge.
A statement from Buckingham Palace on the matter read: “[Andrew’s] lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence. Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease, and he will move to alternative private accommodation.
“These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him. Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”
Andrew is expected to move into Marsh Farm near the royal family’s Sandringham House in Norfolk. Sarah, though, will not be joining her former husband as she is seeking her own accommodations elsewhere.
An insider told Closer that for Sarah, “It’s like having the golden handcuffs taken off, or at least that’s how she’s trying to spin it. Now that she’s no longer hitching her wagon to Andrew it’s opened up a lot of choices to her, or at least she’s convinced it has. She’s still full of vigour and even after this huge fall from grace, she’s got this unshakable will to keep going.
“She says there’s no reason she can’t throw herself back into the dating game and land a rich man to make the rest of her days a whole lot easier.”
Following her divorce from Andrew, Fergie was seeing Austrian tennis player Thomas Muster from 1996 to 1998. She was then in a relationship with the late Italian count, Gaddo della Gherardesca, before they split in 2001.
But it’s not just Sarah who’s ready to move on. The source added that Andrew thinks it’s time he jumps back into the dating pool too, saying, “He is even talking about how he wants to get back to dating. The royals will be relieved to see him go, but they’ll also be worrying about what he might get up to once he’s off and operating completely on his own terms.”
