Angelique Bates Asked for Help for Kianna Underwood Before She was Killed in a Tragic Hit-and-Run Accident
A tragic hit-and-run accident in Brownsville is the third fatal hit-and-run accident of the year in New York City. Two separate accidents on New Year’s Day claimed the lives of a 68-year-old man and a 25-year-old Queens resident. The January 16 incident took the life of 33-year-old Kianna Underwood, a former child star. Police are searching for the drivers of two separate vehicles.

Former Child star, Kianna Underwood, has been identified as the victim of a brutal hit-and-run accident that took place on January 15. According to News 12, Underwood was walking in the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn around 7 am on January 16, when a black SUV struck her. She was then caught under another vehicle that followed the SUV closely. Underwood was dragged two blocks, according to video surveillance. Both cars fled the scene. Emergency first responders were called, but Underwood was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to News 12, the former Nickelodeon star was unhoused, but was well-known in the Brownsville neighborhood where she died. Locals claim Underwood would often duck into buildings to warm up.

Kianna Underwood was a child star best known for appearing on All That. Born in New York City in 1992, Underwood’s first acting credit came in 1999 in The 24 Hour Woman. She worked consistently from 2001 until 2005, with roles in Little Bill and All That. Underwood also appeared in a national tour of Hairspray as a child. While Underwood had early success, All That was her last acting role. She was 13 during her final appearance. What occurred following her last TV appearance remains a mystery. She died on January 16 at the age of 33.
Years before her death, a fellow child star, Angelique Bates, took to social media to call out All That stars for failing to offer Underwood help. Bates, who also appeared on All That, made it clear that other cast members knew Underwood was living on the streets but didn’t step up to help her. According to TMZ, Bates insinuated that Nickelodeon child stars were selective about whom they would help. ‘
