Anne Burrell Once Said Being a Stepmom Was the ‘Perfect Amount’ of Parenting for Her
Anne Burrell was known to her fans for her cooking prowess. Her personal life remained far more private. Still, the late chef did let fans into her private world a bit, especially in more recent years. She was open about finding love and even discussed her feelings on family and motherhood. The Food Network star noted that while the idea of having children never took up much space in her mind, she was enjoying being a stepmother.
Months before her death, Anne Burrell described being a stepmother as “perfect”
Anne Burrell accomplished a lot in just 55 years of life, but she recently admitted it took her a bit of trial and error to find a romantic endeavor that worked perfectly for her. During a March 2025 appearance on MisSPELLING, an iHeartRadio podcast hosted by Tori Spelling, Burrell opened up about her marriage and what she liked about being a stepmother.
Burrell admitted that becoming a mother was never on her “radar.” Instead, she lived a “rockstar chef” lifestyle and enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephew. When she met her husband, Stuart Claxton, on Bumble in 2018, he had a teenage son from a previous marriage. Burrell was thrilled with the situation, telling Spelling that being a stepmother was the “perfect amount” of parenting for her. Claxton’s son, Javier Claxton, is a college student now.
Before meeting and marrying Stuart Claxton, Burrell was in a long-term relationship with fellow chef Koren Grieveson. Burrell announced their engagement in 2013, but they never made it down the aisle. It’s unclear when they officially split. Grieveson did not issue a statement following Burrell’s death.
