Ashleigh Evans Believes Jenelle Evans Is Selling Lies About Jace Evans’ Mental Health Crisis Because She’s ‘Angry’

Ashleigh Evans Wilson, Jenelle Evans’ sister, has a lot to say about the most recent news about her nephew, Jace Evans. Two days ago, reports began circulating that Jace, 16, was removed from his grandmother’s care and placed in an inpatient mental health facility. The move came after a 911 call was placed about him. Wilson contends that there is a lot of misinformation about the incident swirling around, and she thinks her sister is behind it.

Earlier this week, news broke that Jace Evans was living inside a mental health facility after an incident at his grandmother’s house led to a 911 call. More recently, TMZ reported that the teen pulled a gun on his grandmother and threatened to take his own life because he was upset. Ashleigh, the teen’s aunt, says that’s not what happened.

Ashleigh took to social media to defend her nephew, and also spoke with the Ashley Reality Roundup Group. She claims that tales that the younger Evans had a handgun inside the home he shared with Barbara Evans are untrue. She insists a handgun was not found in the home or on Jace at any point. Ashleigh did contend that the teen broke something inside the home when he grew upset over news about his mother.

As for where the false reports are coming from, Ashleigh thinks her sister might be the source of the misinformation. She says Jenelle is angry with Jace and may be trying to discredit the boy. She opted not to share more information about Jace’s current situation, his treatment, or any diagnosis that may have come out of this recent inpatient admission.

Jace’s custody situation has been complicated

Concerns for Jace and his mental health are not new. The teen has been in the news several times since March 2023. Trouble began shortly after he moved from his grandmother’s care into his mother’s house. After the custody swap, Jenelle reported the teen missing multiple times. In October 2024, David Eason, her then-husband, was arrested for assaulting the teen. After that, he hopped around different family and foster care placements before ultimately being returned to Jenelle’s care.

Reports from 2024 suggested Jace, then 15, struggled with the move from North Carolina to Las Vegas in May 2024. Reports from that time suggested he hoped to return to North Carolina. Jenelle placed at least one 911 call about Jace while living with him in Las Vegas. In May 2025, Jenelle sent the teen to live with his father, Andrew Lewis. The placement, the first time Jace spent any significant time with Lewis since his birth, lasted just a few weeks. In August 2025, Jace uploaded text messages between himself and his mother on Instagram. He was then sent back to North Carolina to live with his grandmother.

While Jace was living with Barbara Evans when he was taken in for mental health care, rumors suggest his mother is still legally responsible for him. She is the individual who can make medical decisions for the teen, allegedly. It is unclear how long his treatment is set to last.
