Author Claims Astrology Played a Role in the End of Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen’s Marriage
In 2022, Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen shocked the world by announcing their divorce. Since then, fans and critics have offered up countless theories about what went wrong. Many assume Brady’s decision to return to the NFL was the final blow to their marriage, but a new book suggests there might be another factor at play: astrology may have helped end their 13-year marriage.
Lars Anderson says astrology came into play in Tom and Gisele’s divorce
Lars Anderson’s new book, Brady: An American Story and the Price of Greatness, hits shelves Sept. 29. It takes a deep look at Brady’s reign as the NFL’s GOAT and everything it may have cost him along the way. While fans have long suspected football was to blame for Brady and Bündchen’s split, Anderson points to another explanation.
According to Anderson, an eyewitness close to Brady claims the supermodel, a devoted astrology fan, consulted the stars and told her husband they weren’t compatible. Per the source, “And just like that, she was done.” Anderson writes that the decision came out of nowhere for Brady, who was allegedly blindsided by it.
The author even points to Bündchen’s August 2022 horoscope in Cosmopolitan as a possible influence. In it, an astrologer predicted that August, Brady’s birth month, would bring a major shift for Cancers, including hard conversations and a reckoning in close relationships. Bündchen is a Cancer.
To be fair, Anderson doesn’t pin the divorce solely on zodiac incompatibility. Real-world tension was very much at play. According to the author, Bündchen had been pushing Brady toward retirement since at least the 2017 Super Bowl, and things reportedly came to a head after he un-retired in March 2022.
Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen’s signs aren’t compatible
While astrology surely isn’t the only reason for the split, it may have played a role. The former couple’s signs are often considered incompatible. Bündchen, born July 20, is a Cancer, while Brady, born Aug. 3, is a Leo. According to astrologers, these neighboring signs often struggle to see eye to eye.
Cancer is a water sign ruled by the moon and is associated with emotional depth, sensitivity and a strong focus on home and family. Cancers crave security and tend to prioritize their inner circle above everything else. Leo is a fire sign ruled by the sun. Leos are known for their confidence, ambition and love of the spotlight. They thrive on admiration and are driven to win, sometimes at the expense of other parts of their lives.
Those differing motivations can lead to serious tension. The Cancer in the pairing may feel neglected as the Leo pursues glory, while the Leo can feel stifled by the Cancer’s need for closeness and connection. For Brady and Bündchen, some have argued that the relationship worked early on in part because Bündchen stepped back from the spotlight so Brady could shine. Thirteen years later, that arrangement may have grown old.
