After seven seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, defensive end Maxx Crosby was traded to the Baltimore Ravens in March 2026. Maxx is a defensive force on the field. He is a five-time Pro Bowler and recorded 69.5 sacks during his tenure with the Raiders.

Now, fans of his new team want to know more about his life away from the gridiron.

Here’s what we know about Maxx’s family and his wife, Rachel Crosby.

How long Maxx and Rachel have been together and when they got married

Rachel Crosby (née Washburn) was born on June 13, 1995, to parents Mark and Trisha. She had two siblings, a sister, Ashley, and a brother, Chad.

Rachel grew up in Michigan and developed a love for sports at an early age. Soccer became her main focus. She played the sport in high school and then at the collegiate level when she attended Eastern Michigan University. She met Maxx in 2016 when they were both students at EMU.

At the time, Maxx was a standout defensive end for the school’s football team. Their commonality and mutual understanding of the demands of athletics helped them connect. They were friends for a while and eventually started dating.

In 2022, Maxx proposed. They tied the knot the following year in Boulder City, Nevada.

Maxx credits Rachel with saving his life

Like any couple, Maxx and Rachel did go through a difficult time together, and in 2020, he entered rehab for alcohol.

During an episode of The Pivot Podcast, the athlete shared, “We’ve had a million ups and downs … went through it all. [Rachel] went through my addictions. She was there through everything. I give her a ton of credit … she helped change my direction of my, you know, my career, my future.“

Maxx has posted heartfelt messages to his wife on social media a few times in the past, including one post when Rachel was pregnant with their daughter, Ella.

The NFL star credited Rachel with saving his life, writing, Since Day 1, You’ve Held Me Down At My Lowest & Highest Moments … From The Eastern Days, Rehab, Literally Everything. You Always Had My Back, Even When I Didn’t Deserve It But You Truly Saved My Life. I’ve Had A Rough Past That I’m Still Working Through & Everyday Battles That You Help Me With Everyday. All This To Say I F****** Love You Forever& Ella Is About To Have The Best Momma On Planet … Love You To Death Baby.”

The couple runs a foundation to help others struggling with substance abuse

In 2023, Rachel and Maxx established The Maxx Crosby Foundation, which supports a number of causes close to their hearts, including supporting youth with substance abuse disorders.

According to the foundation’s website, “The Maxx Crosby Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the support of teen substance abuse intervention, youth health and wellness, animal rescue, and abuse prevention as well as other charitable causes.”
