‘Baywatch’ Star Alexandra Paul Arrested in Wisconsin: Has She Had Run-Ins With the Law Before?
Former Baywatch actor Alexandra Paul was recently arrested on a Wisconsin farm alongside multiple other activists. Paul, who has been deeply involved in activism for years, freed several beagles from a breeder. This is far from the first time she has been arrested.
‘Baywatch’ star Alexandra Paul was arrested at a beagle breeding farm
On March 15, Wisconsin police arrested Paul and a number of other activists at Ridglan Farms. They broke into the facility and began removing dogs. The Beagle breeder is one of only two in the country that conducts scientific research on dogs.
“The Dane County Sheriff’s Office understands how deeply people feel for the beagles at Ridglan Farms, and we respect their right to express that passion through peaceful protests,” Sheriff Kalvin Barrett said in a statement. “Our role is to keep everyone safe and to respond when unlawful activity takes place.”
Per Page Six, authorities said the activists were “cooperative and respectful.”
“We encourage anyone with concerns about animal welfare or research practices to engage through lawful and constructive avenues,” they added. “The sheriff’s office remains committed to maintaining public safety, promoting peaceful dialogue, and ensuring that all parties can exercise their rights within the bounds of the law.”
Has Alexandra Paul been arrested before?
Paul has been arrested for her activism on numerous occasions. She supports a number of causes, and has attended many protests. She is a firm supporter of nuclear disarmament. Police have detained her over a dozen times for civil disobedience at the Nevada Test Site.
Paul also spent five days in jail after protesting the Iraq War in 2003. Two years later, police arrested her for protesting General Motors’ destruction of their electric vehicles.
The actor, who is a vegan, has also been arrested multiple times for her animal activism. She has protested and engaged in sit-ins at farms and slaughterhouses.
She spoke about her political activism
While Paul knows that some people may dislike her for her activism, she thinks there is more for her to do.
“I do not think I am doing enough, considering the environmental crisis we are in and the suffering all around!” she told First Order Historians, adding, “I am sure there are some who do not like me for my outspokenness and my views, and I totally respect their right to boycott my projects. I do not aim to change the minds of folks who have already made their mind up anyway.”
She added that her goal is to influence the “fence sitters” into strongly believing in her causes. Paul likes people with strong convictions, even if she disagrees with them.
“I actually respect folks who stand up for their beliefs – even if I disagree with them — than the folks who do not care, are afraid to ‘get involved,’ or who cannot be bothered,” she said. “I admire passion and commitment. A woman once told me she could not watch those slaughterhouse videos because she ‘loves animals so much’ and it would upset her. I would prefer to hang out with a hunter who believes he is doing the right thing than a wuss like her.”
