Bethenny Frankel has made a seemingly sudden move to a much warmer climate. Frankel, who has spent most of her adult life in New York and Connecticut, has sold her Connecticut compound and moved to South Florida with her daughter. The news came as a bit of a shock at first, but the former The Real Housewives of New York City star recently opened up about why she decided to leave her historic home behind in favor of the Sunshine State.

Bethenny Frankel explains why she moved to Florida

Frankel, who is known for being unflinchingly honest on her Instagram page, recently opened up about her big move. The mother of one admitted there were multiple reasons for the move. Still, she admitted she was largely moved to act after feeling like she was drowning in her home. She said she had a desire to shake the overwhelming sense of loneliness she felt while living in Connecticut. Frankel revealed that while she’s a busy businesswoman and mother, she spent more time alone while living in the Greenwich estate than she would have liked. She said that she had no community in the affluent enclave.

Frankel said she purchased her Greenwich property as a “big family home” when she had different plans for her life. She envisioned entertaining and big holidays. The large family never materialized. While Frankel had planned to stay put until Bryn Hoppy, her only child, was ready for college, they were prompted to make the move quickly. According to reports, the move was a good fit for Bryn’s sports aspirations. Bryn, whom she shares with ex-husband Jason Hoppy, is wrapping up her first year of high school. Frankel purchased a property that is a much better fit for the family of two. The content creator and SkinnyGirl founder has a community of friends in Florida. Frankly, she seems excited to spend time with them after feeling isolated.

She’s not giving up all of her ties to New York, though

While Bethenny Frankel is excited about her next adventure in Florida, she’s not completely ready to say goodbye to the Northeast. In an Instagram update, Frankel noted that she and Bryn would maintain an apartment in New York City and a home in the Hamptons because they still love New York.

Frankel is known for buying and selling real estate, and she’s made several big real estate deals in recent years. For example, she unloaded her massive TriBecca loft. She then purchased a much smaller pied-à-terre to make her time in the city more comfortable. She showed off the space on Instagram last year. Frankel also maintains a sprawling, waterfront estate on Long Island.
