Bethenny Frankel Reveals Why a ‘Real Housewives’ Cameo Is out of the Question
Bethenny Frankel has no plans to return to Bravo or the new show her former castmates are signed up for on E!. The former reality TV star discussed her decision not to join her former castmates on Instagram. Now, Bethenny Frankel is digging even deeper, revealing that she absolutely would not consider a cameo, either. Frankel insists she’d sooner sign up to appear on every moment of the show than agree to a cameo.
A cameo is out of the question for Bethenny Frankel
Bethenny Frankel’s fans have been clamoring to see her return to TV for years. The moment an E! show centered around her former The Real Housewives of New York City castmates, those same fans started asking Frankel if she’d be returning, even for a cameo. Signing up for the show was a hard pass for Frankel, but a cameo is an even harder pass.
Frankel took to Instagram to tell her fans that returning for a cameo on The Real Housewives or any other reality TV series is an “immediate no” from her. She said she’d sooner return for “every second” than step into a “guest of” role on a show similar to the one she was on. While Frankel didn’t explicitly say it, she heavily implied that cameos are exploitative. She noted that talent is paid minimally for their involvement, while the network is free to use a cameo to bait audiences and draw in viewers. Frankel pointed to Denise Richards’ cameo return to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as an example.
She went on to insist that the only way she’d ever consider a cameo is if there was something she wanted or needed from a TV network. As it stands, there is nothing she wants or needs from reality TV right now, so fans will need to be satisfied with her Instagram content.
How much did Bethenny Frankel earn from ‘The Real Housewives of New York City’?
Bethenny Frankel has had a meteoric rise in the business world. Sure, her status as a Bravo celebrity helped propel her career. Still, her appearance on The Real Housewives of New York City did not help her amass the bulk of her net worth. Frankel once revealed that she earned just over $7,000 for the first season of The Real Housewives of New York City. That’s only about $800 per episode.
Frankel agreed to the abysmal salary because she saw it as a stepping stone for her business. It was just that. Eventually, she was a top earner on Bravo before leaving the series. Frankel reportedly earned around $1 million per season for her later involvement. Still, Bravo didn’t pay the bills exactly. Frankel reportedly sold SkinnyGirl for $100 million. She has also been dabbling in real estate for years, selling multimillion-dollar properties for big profits. Financially, she is fine. Reality TV is no longer on her radar.
