Bethenny Frankel Says She Initially ‘Shut Down’ New Romance Because of ‘Breadcrumbing’
Bethenny Frankel has a new man in her life. The former reality TV star and current business mogul has found a new sense of community and a brand new love since moving to Florida last year. While she just went public with the romance, she’s apparently known her new beau for a while. In fact, Frankel revealed she shut down her current boyfriend when she felt he was “breadcrumbing” her a few months ago.
Who is Bethenny Frankel’s new boyfriend?
Bethenny Frankel is looking healthier and happier than ever. Some of her fresh-faced glow might be attributed to her new romance. Frankel has gone public with Shane Campbell, a financial advisor based in Miami. Frankel told her Instagram followers all about Campbell, while keeping his name under wraps, in the days leading up to their first public appearance.
The duo hard-launched the relationship at the 2026 Global Champions Arabians Tour in Miami. In photos from the event, Frankel and Campbell seem completely at ease with each other and shared more than a few tender moments. Some of Frankel’s fans think this could be it, but Frankel wasn’t initially sure about Campbell.
She initially wasn’t sure about the romance
In an Instagram upload before the world knew her new partner’s name, Frankel revealed that she was initially a bit leery of Campbell. She even told her audience that she “shut him down” when he appeared to be “breadcrumbing” her. Despite the rebuff, Campbell came back around and won Frankel over with “deliberate” and “romantic” gestures.
Frankel has been open about her desire to find a serious partner, but she has also been candid about her lack of patience for the dating game. She’s spoken regularly about men who want to be pen pals and who “breadcrumb” potential partners. Breadcrumbing is the act of stringing a person along with sporadic communication while never committing to an actual relationship. While Frankel seemed to fear that’s what Campbell was doing, he apparently proved her wrong.
The TV personality has had several tumultuous romances in the past
Frankel’s initial hesitation after what she deemed “breadcrumbing” is completely understandable. The TV personality has had a series of complicated relationships, including two marriages. It’s only natural that she’d be a bit leery. Long before fame found her, she was married to Peter Sussman. The duo, who married in 1996, had been friends for years before making things romantic. While their Four Seasons wedding looked like a fairytale event, the marriage was not. Frankel insisted, in a reflective moment with Life & Style, that she might have fallen in love with how much Sussman loved her and not necessarily with him.
After Sussman, there was a brief courtship with Jason Colodne. The relationship played out on season 1 of The Real Housewives of New York City. She moved on to Jason Hoppy, a sales executive, when that ended. Frankel and Hoppy were briefly married and welcomed a child before ultimately splitting. The tumultuous marriage was also featured on the Bravo series, but their decade-long divorce played out in the tabloids.
During the very long, very drawn-out divorce proceedings, she linked up with real estate developer Dennis Shields. Their on-again-off-again romance didn’t seem particularly healthy, but the pair were clearly drawn to each other. Shields died from an accidental drug overdose in 2018. That same year, Frankel met Paul Bernon on a dating app. They dated for six years, even announcing their engagement in 2021, but it wasn’t meant to last.
Bernon was the last relationship Bethenny Frankel went fully public with until Campbell. We are hoping this one sticks.
