The ‘Beyoncé Effect’ Will Lead to These Huge Stars Returning to the 2026 MET Gala
With the 2026 Met Gala just around the corner, many people are taking guesses of who will make an appearance and what creations we’ll see on the carpet for “fashion’s biggest night.” This year’s theme is “Fashion Is Art” which invites guests to interpret fashion as a living, wearable form of art.
Several attendees are already confirmed, including major names in music, as well as actors, influencers, athletes, and co-chairs Beyoncé and Nicole Kidman. However, some guests remain intriguingly unannounced, leaving plenty of room for speculation about who might appear on the famous steps.
Here’s who one PR expert thinks could attend this year thanks to the “Beyoncé Effect.”
Expert predicts that Beyoncé‘s involvement will bring a ‘wave of A-listers’
Kayley Cornelius is a celebrity PR specialist and brand strategist, known for her expertise in media, pop culture, and influencer culture. She specializes in crisis PR, traditional PR, celebrity branding, and brand reputation, advising on reputation management and public perception. Cornelius’ commentary and analysis on celebrity branding, reality TV stars, influencers, and high-profile relationships have been featured in the New York Post, Elle, the Daily Mail, the BBC, and more.
Speaking on behalf of Covers about the impact Beyoncé‘s involvement will have on the event this year, Cornelius told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, “Beyoncé stepping back in as co-chair for the Met Gala for the first time in a decade is set to completely shift the energy of the night. When someone of her status is involved, it instantly raises the bar and turns the event into a must-attend moment.
“Expect to see a wave of A-listers returning to the carpet, particularly those within her inner circle. Names like Rihanna, Jay-Z, and even Adele could easily make a comeback, alongside major fashion heavyweights. With Beyoncé involved, this is no longer just about fashion; it becomes a full cultural moment, and that is what pulls in the biggest names.”
According to Cornelius, the Met’s honorary chairs will attract tech star power as well.
“With Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez stepping in as Honorary Chairs, do not be surprised if the guest list starts to look a little more power player heavy this year,” she explained. “The Met has always mixed fashion and celebrity, but this could be the year where we see more tech billionaires and business moguls making an appearance.
“It is no longer just about Hollywood; it is about who is shaping global culture, and that now includes the tech world.”
Another co-chair will bring out some of the most famous names in sports
Cornelius opined that having tennis superstar Venus Williams as another co-chair means there will be some big-name athletes making appearances on the carpet as well.
“With Venus Williams co-chairing, this could be the year athletes really take over the Met carpet,” Cornelius predicted. “We have already seen the rise of sports stars in the fashion world, with Lewis Hamilton leading the way. But there is also a new wave coming through.
“Alysa Liu is one to watch after her breakout success at the Winter Olympics. Fans love her for bringing a modern, relatable edge to figure skating, and her authenticity has helped her build a strong following. If she makes an appearance, it would definitely be a moment fans would be excited to see as she speaks for a whole new generation!’
