Beyoncé Said She’s ‘Stronger’ in Her Songs Than in Real Life
Beyoncé has released many empowering songs over the course of her lengthy career. She said she wants to put out music that makes people feel things. To do this, she admitted she sometimes has to put on a persona. Beyoncé said that the version of herself that sings songs is “stronger” than she is in real life.
Beyoncé said she is different from the version of herself who writes songs
Beyoncé has released empowering songs like “Irreplaceable,” “Run the World (Girls),” and “***Flawless.” She said she hopes to inspire emotion in listeners.
“I just try to write songs that people are going to have a dialogue about songs that people are going to feel . . . at dinner, at the club,” she told Marie Claire. “I want people to have some type of emotion.”
She even put out songs like “Single Ladies” after her marriage, when she was decidedly not single. She wanted to celebrate people who were, though.
“More than anything, the song celebrates being single,” she tells me. “It’s like, if you’ve been doing all you can and it’s not happening for you, go out and have you a good old time. Put on your sexy dress and move on.”
While thinking about “Single Ladies,” she said that the version of herself she sings about is not quite the same as she is in real life. She thinks that sometimes she wants to remind herself about her inner strength.
“I know I’m stronger in the songs than I really am,” she said. “Sometimes I need to hear it myself. We all need to hear those empowering songs to remind us.”
