Beyoncé Once Shared Her Plan for a ‘Romantic Evening’ With Jay-Z

Beyoncé and Jay-Z have been together for over two decades and are largely a private couple. They share three children and, with the exception of her blistering album Lemonade, don’t go into much detail about their relationship dynamic. Once, though, Beyoncé spoke about her idea for a perfect romantic night with her then-boyfriend.

After six years of dating, the public still knew relatively little about Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s relationship. She said they intentionally avoided talking about it.

“I don’t try to hide it. There’s nothing to hide. People see us, but we just don’t talk about it, and I think that’s absolutely helped us,” she told Cosmopolitan in 2006. “People give us space and respect us. The minute you start talking about it, that’s all people want to talk about. And then the really big rumors start happening.”

Still, she revealed what she liked to do for a “romantic evening” with the music mogul.

“Light some candles, have a good meal, and watch an old movie,” she said. “I don’t cook much, but I’m good at spaghetti and sandwiches. I know they’re easy, but they’re my specialty.”

She said her relationship was important to her. While she didn’t feel that she needed a romantic partner, it was an important part of her life.

“You definitely feed off the people around you, and your man is one of the people you talk to the most,” she said. “So you kind of help each other and keep each other strong. It’s important.”
