Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert tied the knot in 2011. The couple had been together for several years and were one of country music’s biggest romantic duos. Still, Shelton joked he had some concerns about his wedding. He shared his biggest worry ahead of his wedding date.

Blake Shelton shared his concern about his wedding to Miranda Lambert

Shelton and Lambert married in Texas on May 14, 2011. While they both spoke about how excited they were to become a married couple, Shelton admitted to having some concerns.

“My hopes for the wedding is that she doesn’t back out, because not only would it break my heart, but it’s going to be a very expensive party to not have at least gotten married there,” he told the Associated Press (per the Los Angeles Daily News). “But the music is going to be a lot of fun.”

If Lambert did decide to leave Shelton before the wedding, she’d likely still want to go forward with the party. That’s what she said she hoped for if he wanted to back out.

“I told him, if he wants to dump me at the altar, call me to decide, and we’ll just have a party instead,” she said. “Like don’t do it at the altar, that’s really bad.”

Luckily, neither of them got cold feet.

Miranda Lambert shared what they were like as a couple

Lambert and Shelton were both huge successes in country music. Still, she said they were very normal people.

“We’re a really normal couple,” she said. “We like to back road and hunt and fish.”

She believed their dedication to putting each other first was what made them a good couple.

“When we’re home, we’re not in [work] mode,” she said. “We’re not in work mode, but it’s so great to have success together,” she said. “We’re best friends, and I can’t see myself with anybody else.”

She didn’t want her second wedding to look like her first

After four years of marriage, Shelton and Lambert announced their divorce in 2015. She met her current husband, Brendan McLoughlin, in late 2018, and they tied the knot just a few months later.

“I feel like I’ve been through enough in my life to know what I don’t want, so when I know what I do want I snatch it right up,” Lambert told People.

She admitted she didn’t want her second wedding — or marriage, for that matter — to feel much like her first.

“I was married before, and it was a huge wedding and everything was very public. So was my divorce,” she said. “I learned then that it’s not for everybody else. This is my actual life. With Brendan, I made it a point to keep it as private as I could for as long as I could.”
