Kaysha Love is an American Olympic bobsledder known for her power, precision, and rapid rise in the sport.

She made her mark on the international stage as a member of Team USA with her Olympic debut in 2022 in Beijing. During the 2023–24 season, she earned multiple IBSF World Cup medals as a pilot in the women’s monobob and two-woman events. At the 2024 IBSF World Championships, she secured a silver medal in monobob, solidifying her status among the world’s elite and setting records as one of America’s fastest-rising pilots.

She’s also responsible for getting her fiancé, Hunter Powell, into the sport. He never had any plans of becoming a Winter Olympian, but ended up making his debut at the Milan-Cortina Games. Now, fans want to know more about Love’s and Powell.

Powell’s goal was to be in the Summer Olympics, not the Winter Olympics

Before he met Love, Powell’s goal was always to be in the Summer Olympics.

He grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado, and played multiple sports in high school, including track and field, wrestling, and competed in cross country. After high school, he attended Colorado State University, where he became a heptathlon and decathlon Mountain West Champion. He met Love while in college at a track meet. At the time, she was a sprinter for UNLV.

He recalled their first meeting, telling 9 News, “I was in the middle of the pole vault during the decathlon. Saw her, couldn’t stop looking at her, and we ended up meeting at the end of the competition. We were really good friends for a long time.”

Love was approached at the NCAA Track and Field National Championships by a bobsled coach who convinced her to take up the sport. Just two years later, she made her debut in bobsledding. Love earned a spot on the Olympic team and competed at the 2022 Beijing Games as a brakewoman, partnered with Kaillie Humphries.

Powell continued to compete in track and field through the 2024 season. Then Love persuaded him to make the switch to bobsled.

“She told me, ‘You really gotta think about doing bobsled, I know you’re about to be done with track,’” Powell remembered. “Coming to bobsled, it was a very natural transition — it’s very much a strength, speed, power event.”

By the end of his rookie season, Powell competed in both the two-man and four-man Bobsled at the 2025 IBSF World Championships for Team USA and had a top-10 finish in both events. He is now competing in the Milan-Cortina Games along with his fiancée. Love competes in Monobob while Powell is in the two-man bobsled events.

“You never know where the journey is going to take you,” Powell said. “It’s not going to be the way you think it is … but you owe it to yourself to do the best you can in all you do.”

When Love and Powell got engaged

In July 2025, Powell got down on one knee and asked Love to marry him. He posted a video of the proposal on Instagram and captioned it, “I love you to the moon and back and infinitely more, Kaysha Love. I always have and I always will.”

His father, Paris Powell, gushed about how proud he is of his son, saying, “Imagine traveling all over Europe with the woman you love, you’re marrying. I’m blown away by him.”
