The NFL postseason will begin on January 10 without Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs for the first time in a decade. If a body language expert has it right, Kelce’s last minutes on an NFL field as an active player might have already passed. According to an expert, his final game of the season was likely his last game as a player. Travis Kelce’s body language screams retirement, though he’s conflicted.

A body language expert says Travis Kelce is ready to retire

Now that the Kansas City Chiefs’ season is over, Travis Kelce has a big decision to make. As the tight end moves into a new phase of his life, he is contemplating retirement. A body language expert spoke to Casino.Us and revealed that his post-game interview might be more telling than fans think. Body language expert Judi James told the outlet that Kelce’s pursed lips, flickering gaze, and fluctuating facial expression during a post-game interview suggest he is still in a state of flux. James believes he is still weighing his decision, though heavily leaning towards one side.  

James suggests Travis Kelce is likely leaning towards retirement, though he isn’t entirely happy about it. His post-interview behavior is also a big tell, alleges the expert. James told Casino.Us that his “hail” towards the crowd as he walked off feels like a “memory-making” moment. His wide eyes indicate he was trying to drink it all in. His walk-off demeanor, with an “ox-bow” mouth and one hand in his pocket, indicates resignation while attempting to appear nonchalant.

There are other reasons to believe an announcement is forthcoming

Aside from Travis Kelce’s body language, there is another reason to believe that he’s played his last snap already. The 2025 season was Travis Kelce’s 13th season in the league, all of which he has played with the Kansas City Chiefs. If he were to retire now, he’d be following in his big brother’s footsteps, and the number of seasons would also likely make his future wife happy.

Travis Kelce calling it quits after 13 seasons would probably make Taylor Swift happy, too. While the couple is looking ahead ot their wedding, it seems a family is certainly in the future, as well.  It would be nice to have Kelce around more during football season. 13 is also Taylor Swift’s lucky number, so putting an end to his playing career after 13 seasons feels like fate.

While there are plenty of reasons to believe Travis Kelce is ready to pack up his locker and move on to a new chapter, he hasn’t yet announced a retirement. That announcement, if it is coming, likely won’t come until after the Super Bowl. We’ll just need to stay tuned.
