Brad Pitt’s Knowledge of Caviar Was an Issue for Gwyneth Paltrow
Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Pitt dated from 1994 to 1996, when they became engaged. The couple eventually called off their engagement, but Paltrow has spoken highly of the relationship over the years. While they were together, though, sources say she had doubts about the romance. She reportedly noticed stark differences in their upbringings.
Gwyneth Paltrow said Brad Pitt’s knowledge of caviar showed their differences
Pitt and Paltrow began dating after starring in Se7en together. She reportedly picked the role because she knew a romance with him would be a possibility. They got together on set and, after two years of dating, got engaged.
Before long, though, Paltrow began to feel less certain about the relationship. She reportedly noticed yawning differences between them, primarily due to their upbringings. Paltrow’s parents are actor Blythe Danner and producer and director Bruce Paltrow, so she grew up surrounded by the glamour of the film industry. Pitt grew up in Oklahoma.
“Brad and I had very different upbringings,” she said, per People. “So when we go to restaurants and order caviar, I have to say to Brad, ‘This is beluga and this is osetra.’”
After they broke up, Paltrow reportedly made it clear that she did not think highly of Pitt’s intelligence. Per the new biography Gwyneth: A Biography by Amy Odell, she once said Pitt was “dumber than a sack of s***.” More recently, though, Paltrow has spoken fondly of her time with Pitt.
