After years of mounting medical issues that made her “miserable,” Brandi Glanville is on the mend. The former Bravo star recently opened up about what caused a slew of medical issues, including facial deformities, that left her mostly homebound. The once-vivacious model and reality TV star says a ruptured breast implant caused all of her drama. She is officially on the road to recovery, though.

Brandi Glanville says a ruptured breast implant led to medical drama

Brandi Glanville spent years dealing with medical issues, but by mid-2025, she appeared far more optimistic about her chances of recovery. She insisted, back then, that she had finally started to get some answers about what might be wrong with her, but kept quiet about the actual diagnosis. That has changed now. TMZ caught up with Glanville on February 18, and she was in a very upbeat and talkative mood.

Glanville told the outlet that she is officially on the mend after having surgery to remove and replace her breast implants. Glanville revealed that poorly maintained implants had ruptured inside her chest and that silicone migrated into her lymph nodes, leading to systemic symptoms and infection. She reports that she’s feeling good and already seeing symptom relief following her surgery.

Glanville did not follow implant protocol, which advises patients to swap out implants every 10 to 15 years. Glanville left her implants in for over 20, insisting that they were doing just fine. Clearly, they were not. Leakage from a silicone implant is often “silent,” which is why more monitoring and proactive surgical intervention are recommended.

Brandi Glanville’s illness timeline

Brandi Glanville first reported strange medical symptoms in 2023, after she was asked to leave filming for The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip early. Glanville initially suggested her symptoms, which included facial swelling, were due to stress. Glanville was booted from Bravo, and the series was shelved after Caroline Manzo accused Glanville of sexual harassment while they filmed in Morocco. She later sued Bravo, though it was later dropped. Manzo has an active lawsuit against the network.

Through 2023 and 2024, her condition worsened. Glanville reported episodes of facial swelling, painful lumps, and stiffness that made it difficult to move. She moved on from her “stress” diagnosis to insisting that a facial parasite was wreaking havoc on her system. 2025 started much the same, with the former starlet mostly homebound and “miserable.” By April 2025, though, she was more optimistic, insisting that her treatment had turned a corner. Apparently, she was right.
