Brandy Addresses Shyne Dating Claims and the Nature of Their Past Relationship
R&B singer Brandy‘s name has been in the news the last few days after her past relationships with two former Bad Boy artists were discussed. However, Brandy isn’t thrilled with the versions that have been put out there and has decided to address what was said herself.
In case you missed it, on March 16, rapper-turned-politician Shyne was a guest on Ma$e and Cam’ron’s podcast It Is What It Is. When Brandy’s name came up, Shyne said she was his “dream girl.”
He then claimed that he started seeing the “I Wanna Be Down” artist when she was with Ma$e and how that led to friction between the rappers, causing Sean “Diddy” Combs to step in. Problem is, Brandy says Shyne’s claim about dating her isn’t true.
Following his appearance on the podcast, Brandy took to Instagram to set the record straight, writing, “In the late 90’s, I had a platonic friendship with rapper Shyne. In an unfortunate turn of events, that friendship is now being mischaracterized as ‘we dated.’ Unequivocally, we did not!
“I’m not sure why an untrue narrative about a scope of what was a friendship more than 20-years ago is being reshaped during his current media interviews.”
Brandy added that false stories like this are the reason she’s releasing her memoir titled PHASES.
Ma$e and Shyne’s conversation also led to a response from Brandy’s brother, Ray J, who went on a rant calling Mase, Shyne, and Cam’ron out by name and threatening them if they didn’t “keep my sister’s name out of your mouth.”
In her post, the “Have You Ever” songstress made it clear that she didn’t ask her brother to defend her as she is more than capable of “handling things on her own.”
