Bravo Stars Who Have Defended Amanda Batula Amid West Wilson Controversy
Amanda Batula and West Wilson have received a great deal of backlash from fans and fellow Bravo stars after announcing their relationship. The pair confirmed that they are together despite Batula’s close friendship with Wilson’s ex, Ciara Miller. Even though many people have criticized the pair, other Bravolebrities have come to their defense.
Bravo stars Amanda Batula and West Wilson announced that they are in a relationship
On March 31, Batula and Wilson posted a joint statement to confirm their relationship.
“We’ve seen the growing online speculation, so while this is still very new, we wanted to provide some clarity,” the statement began. “It was never our intention to purposely hide anything. Given the complicated relationship dynamics involved and the scrutiny that comes with being on a reality show, we needed a little space to process things privately before speaking on it.”
They were friends for a while, and said they grew closer after the end of Batula’s marriage to Kyle Cooke.
“As our feelings evolved, we wanted to take time to understand exactly what we were feeling. We also recognize that this has had an impact beyond just us and never wanted our actions to cause any hurt or be perceived as careless,” they concluded. “We truly appreciate the understanding and respect as we navigate this.”
The statement sparked immediate backlash, with fans, their castmates, and other people in the Bravo world slamming them.
A handful of Bravo stars have defended Amanda Batula
While Wilson and Batula have taken heat for announcing their relationship, some people have defended Batula against the backlash, including her ex-husband. Cooke said that while news of the relationship shocked and disappointed him, he asked people to stop criticizing her online.
“I’m obviously frustrated,” Cooke said in a TikTok video. “I’m obviously disappointed in her, but just hearing her and how unwell she is — [having] dark thoughts — I just ask people to maybe let off the gas a little bit with the cyberbullying and hate.”
Andy Cohen shared a similar statement.
“I do think it’s worth reminding all the passionate fans of the show that these are real people involved,” he said on Radio Andy. “And so, these are real people involved.”
He said he believes that people can disagree with their behavior without adding to the online pile-on. Former RHONY star Bethenny Frankel said she doesn’t see a problem with their relationship, though.
“Consenting adults can be with other consenting adults,” she told E! News. “No one’s married.”
Former Vanderpump Rules star Stassi Schroeder was very critical of Batula’s behavior.
“She acts this way with men everywhere,” Schroeder said on her STASSI with Tay podcast, adding, “She needs male attention really badly. She needs validation and I think that is what led her to West.”
Still, she said that she doesn’t deserve this level of hate for her actions.
“The bullying has been enough,” she said. “People can only take so much online hate until they f***ing lose their minds. And it’s really dangerous. Let her carry on and live her life now. She’s got to go to the reunion, she’s got to answer for everything.”
She recently posted a second statement about the situation
After a period of silence following the posting of the statement, Batula returned to her social media accounts to address fans.
“Hi guys, I’ll keep this short and sweet,” she wrote. “I’ve obviously been MIA, but I wanted to come back on and say that I’m truly sorry to everyone I’ve disappointed and hurt, especially those I know personally who I’ve reached out to individually.”
She noted that she wants to carry on life as usual, but said it doesn’t mean she isn’t sorry.
“For the sake of my mental health, I’m going to try to start living life with some sense of normalcy,” she wrote. “If you see me out or posting online, please know that this still weighs very heavily on me. I’m not ignoring what’s happened or what’s unfolded.”
She added that she will address her castmates’ concerns at the upcoming Summer House reunion.
