Breaking Down the Benny Blanco Cheating Rumors and Justin Bieber’s Alleged Response to It
Benny Blanco and Selena Gomez are carrying on as if nothing strange is happening around them. In recent days, they’ve both posted each other, and Gomez mentioned Blanco, in a roundabout way, during a recent speech. That hasn’t changed the fact that the internet has decided that Benny Blanco cheated on Selena Gomez and that Justin Bieber has responded to it. Here is where the rumors originated from, and the evidence fans are using to further fuel speculation.
The cheating rumors began thanks to a TikTok video
Benny Blanco and Selena Gomez spent weeks together doing press for their album, I Said I Love You First. That doesn’t mean they were together every second of the day, though. At one point, Blanco stepped out to grab food with someone, and that’s where all of the cheating allegations began.
On March 24, content creator Harry Daniels posted a video to TikTok and Instagram that showed an encounter with Benny Blanco. Daniels, who approaches celebrities and sings to them, caught up with Blanco at a cafe before serenading him with a version of Gomez’s “Same Old Love.” Blanco appeared put out by the encounter and asked the content creator if he was following him. They had also linked up two months before. Daniels insisted he wanted to be at Blanco and Gomez’s wedding, but several fans insisted the content creator had probably ruined any marital bliss coming Blanco’s way.
More interesting than Daniels’ interaction with Blanco was who he was spending time with. Fans were quick to notice that he was sitting with a tall, blonde woman. Gomez fans clocked the mystery woman as Gomez’s assistant-turned-friend, Theresa Mingus. Rumors that Blanco was caught cheating on Gomez with her friend spread quickly and were later bolstered by some odd social media movements.
Followers notice some strange social media movements
While the TikTok video was enough for some fans to assume Benny Blanco had cheated on Selena Gomez, other fans went looking for more evidence. They found some potentially problematic clues along the way. After Daniels’ video was released, it was discovered that Gomez had unfollowed her longtime friend, Theresa Mingus. The unfollow, which happened sometime in March or April, is kind of a big deal, and suggests there is trouble between Gomez and one of her best friends.
While Gomez’s decision to unfollow the OnlyFans model was enough to keep the rumors going, Theresa Mingus’ Instagram activity raised some eyebrows, too. The influencer posted a photo in a public bathroom in April that looked suspicious. In the picture, Mingus is wearing the jacket that Blanco’s dining companion wore in Daniels’ cringeworthy video. The hair also matches, confirming that Mingus is the person in the video with Blanco. The photo is simply captioned with a cheetah emoji. The cheetah emoji is commonly used to indicate cheating. The image was posted almost a month after the apparent encounter, though.
Mingus hasn’t responded to the allegations or acknowledged any of the dozens of comments that have flooded her social media since the rumors started circulating. She is still following Gomez on Instagram, though.
How does Justin Bieber come into play?
A Selena Gomez rumor would not be complete without the involvement of her famous ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber. Not long after the Benny Blanco cheating rumors broke on the internet, fans moved to Justin Bieber’s Instagram page to see what he’s been up to.
In one of many Instagram stories, Bieber giggled close to the camera. Followers interpreted the post to be about the cheating scandal, although it’s unclear what Bieber was reacting to. The pop artist has been heavily active on Instagram in the last several weeks and shows no signs of slowing his platform use.
