Ahead of the publication of Kevin Federline’s tell-all book about life with Britney Spears, another one of her former husbands has spoken out in her defense. Jason Alexander, to whom Spears was married for just 55 hours, made a post about his disappointment in Federline’s memoir. He shared his belief that Federline left out some parts of the story in his book.

Britney Spears’ first husband called out Kevin Federline

Federline published his book You Thought You Knew on Oct. 21. Ahead of its release, Alexander shared his thoughts in a lengthy statement posted to social media. He noted that he “can’t stay silent” on the matter and accused Federline of not doing enough for Spears.

“It’s easy to point fingers now, to talk about Britney’s struggles like you were just some innocent bystander watching it all happen. But that’s not what went down,” he wrote. “You were her husband. You were supposed to be her protector. Instead, you were partying right alongside her — the drugs, the alcohol, the chaos … you were there for all of it. You weren’t trying to pull her out — you were feeding off it.”

He accused Federline of becoming a “millionaire off her pain” and claimed he is revising history with his book.

“If you’re going to write a book, at least have the guts to tell the truth about your part in it. The nights you partied. The times you turned your back,” he wrote, adding, “You played the game, Kevin. You just want to forget that now because it doesn’t fit the image you’re trying to sell.”

He encouraged Federline to take accountability, expressing his belief that Spears has “been through enough.”

Britney Spears’ first husband was arrested at her wedding

While Alexander is now coming to Spears’ defense, he was a thorn in her side just a few years ago. When Spears wed Sam Asghari in 2022, Alexander filmed himself trying to crash the wedding. In a video on Instagram Live, Alexander walked around Spears’ property and wedding venue, saying that he was “here to crash the wedding” (per NPR).

A security guard tackled Alexander, and police later arrested him. He was charged with a felony and three misdemeanors. A judge ordered that Alexander must stay 100 yards away from Spears for the next three years. He also prohibited Alexander from contacting Spears or purchasing firearms.

Kevin Federline said he is concerned for his former wife

Federline makes a number of troubling allegations about Spears in his book. He claimed that he feels concerned about something terrible happening.

“It’s become impossible to pretend everything’s OK,” he wrote, per The New York Times. “From where I sit, the clock is ticking, and we’re getting close to the 11th hour. Something bad is going to happen if things don’t change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding the pieces.”

He added that he hopes she seeks professional help.
