Britney Spears recently sparked concern when she stuck her head out of the sunroof of an SUV while on a Los Angeles freeway. As this happened just months after police arrested her for a DUI, her behavior worried people. A source close to Spears said that she hadn’t meant to do anything wrong. She also posted about the incident on social media, noting that she wanted to do it more often.

Britney Spears stuck her head out of a car’s sunroof

Spears recently stuck her head out of the sunroof of an SUV as it drove down the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles. Witnesses say she was standing up for roughly two minutes, stretching her arms out and throwing her head back at one point. After the moment generated headlines, Spears addressed it on social media.

“What people see is two seconds of insanity of me arching me to the lords !!!!!” she wrote on Instagram. “Yet the days and hours of my reality !!!!!! Nothing is what it seems. Psss, I think I need to come out of the roof quite a bit more.”

A source said that Spears only stood up because she wanted to check on the state of the traffic.

“Britney just went through the sunroof for a quick moment. She wanted to see what the traffic was about up ahead because the cars came to a stop,” a source told the Daily Mail. “She wanted to see how long they would be delayed.”

They said that this was something she did often while growing up.

“She used to do this all the time as a kid growing up in the South, she loves having the warm wind blow through her hair in the summer, it’s fun. She is having a fun summer and is happy, she is in a good place. If it’s illegal to put your head through a sunroof, she doesn’t know it! She didn’t mean to do anything bad.”

Britney Spears received a DUI charge several months before the sunroof moment

In March, police arrested Spears after witnessing her driving erratically. They charged her with a DUI.

“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,” a representative for Spears told the LA Times in a statement. “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in a long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully she can get the support she needs during this difficult time.”
