Britney Spears’ Exes Rally With Support After DUI Arrest
In the aftermath of Britney Spears’ DUI arrest, two of her ex-husbands have come forward with support for the star. Jason Alexander, whom Spears married in 2004, and Sam Asghari, whom she married in 2022, spoke out about the arrest. Both encouraged fans and media sources to give Spears privacy.
Britney Spears was arrested for a DUI
On March 4, the California Highway Patrol pulled over Spears for driving erratically. They arrested her and impounded her car before releasing her in the early morning of March 5.
“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,” a representative for Spears told the LA Times in a statement. “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in a long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully she can get the support she needs during this difficult time.”
They added that her family will be stepping in to support her.
“Her boys are going to be spending time with her,” the representative said. “Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well-being.”
Spears is currently set to appear in court on May 4.
Two of Britney Spears’ exes spoke out in support of the star following her DUI arrest
Though Spears herself has not commented publicly on her arrest, two of her former husbands have supported her. Asghari encouraged people to give Spears her privacy.
“When it comes to people making mistakes, I understand that, but I think everybody deserves privacy and I hope that the press has learned from the past [and] they give her the privacy that she needs,” he said in an interview with Fox News (via Page Six).
Alexander, who has frequently defended Spears in the years since their marriage ended, posted a statement about her arrest. He wrote that people should wait to comment until they have more information.
“This is exactly how media narratives spiral out of control. Rumors spread faster than facts, and suddenly someone is being judged before the truth is even clear,” he wrote on Instagram. “Britney Spears deserves the same thing anyone else does: facts, fairness, and due process — not headlines built on speculation. Let the facts come out before turning someone’s life into another media circus.”
Her other ex-husband, Kevin Federline, has not commented on her arrest.
When did Britney Spears and Sam Asghari divorce?
Asghari is Spears’ most recent ex. They met on the set of her “Slumber Party” music video in 2016 and tied the knot in 2022. After just 14 months of marriage, Asghari filed for divorce in 2023. Because of the brevity of their marriage, some, including Spears, have questioned Asghari’s intentions. He said that the relationship was always real to him.
“Our marriage was very real to me,” he told People. “It may have been short, but we were together for seven years. I was in love with her, will always have love for her, and wish her the best always.”
In the time since their split, Asghari has spoken out in support of Spears.
