For weeks, fans of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter have debated whether the show was canceled. Several cast members have discussed being on pause, and Amber Potwood claimed it was her mission to see the series canceled. Now, Brittany DeJesus has said what everyone was thinking. She took to social media to claim the series had been canceled, but quickly deleted the comment. Now, she is trying to walk back her statement.

Briana DeJesus’ sister, Brittany, says ‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter’ has been canceled

Earlier this week, Brittany DeJesus may have committed the ultimate reality TV faux pas. She gave away show information before any official announcement. The MTV guest star revealed in a TikTok comment that Teen Mom: The Next Chapter had been canceled.

DeJesus said that she received money from “MTV,” but the checks were going to stop because the network canceled the long-running docuseries. Fans reacted with shock before DeJesus ultimately deleted the comment. She has since tried to do damage control, but it isn’t working.

Brittany DeJesus walked back the comments

While Brittany DeJesus seemed pretty confident about her comments when she made them, she has since walked them back. Not only has the Teen Mom guest deleted her original comment, but she has also addressed the potential cancellation while live on social media.

The other DeJesus claimed that she just hadn’t heard anything about the show. She’s pretending as if she hadn’t made it clear that the series had officially been canned. It’s unclear why DeJesus changed her tune, but it’s always possible someone from MTV reached out.

While Brittany is not an official Teen Mom cast member, MTV paid her for her time on the series. She’s been filmed pretty often, thanks to her close bond with her younger sister and nieces. It appears that she may be trying to preserve her paycheck if the network decides to move forward with the show.

MTV has yet to comment

MTV launched Teen Mom: The Next Chapter in September 2022, merging cast members from the original Teen Mom OG and Teen Mom 2. While Season 1 did reasonably well, fans were largely bothered by the massive cast and the network’s inability to weave the storylines together effectively. Despite complaints, they moved forward with a second season, which premiered in May 2024. The first half of season 2 wrapped in August.

The second half of the season premiered after a break in January 2025. Season 2B aired its finale in May. We haven’t heard anything since. Fans largely suspect the cast’s dramatic social media lives might point to a significant shakeup at MTV.

Although MTV has yet to officially renew the series, insiders say it’s currently “on pause” while the network reevaluates its future. Cory Wharton and Jade Cline have confirmed that filming hasn’t started. Reportedly, both MTV and Paramount+ are considering where to take the series. Amber Portwood, who may or may not have been fired by MTV, has been critical about the network’s alleged attempts to launch a spinoff about the teenage children of the original cast members. MTV has neither confirmed nor denied Portwood’s claims about a spinoff.
