Cardi B Admitted She and Her Team Were ‘Freaking Out’ The 1st Time She Got Pregnant: ‘You’re Going to Mess It Up’
Cardi B is pregnant for the fourth time. She announced the happy news just as she’s gearing up for a tour, and she acknowledged that this could be a point of concern for fans. After giving birth for the first time, Cardi canceled a tour. She admitted that her team was also alarmed when she first told them she was pregnant with her daughter, Kulture. They worried her career wouldn’t survive it.
Cardi B admitted her team worried about her first pregnancy
Shortly after the release of her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, Cardi announced that she was pregnant. She said that when she initially realized she was pregnant, she felt alarmed. Her team worried that her career was too new to risk taking time away to have a child.
“When I got pregnant, I was f***ing freaking out,” she told W Magazine in 2018. “Everybody around me was like, ‘No, this never happened before. Every artist that had a baby, they already put in years in the game. This is your first year. You’re going to mess it up. How are you going to make it?’”
She wanted to prove everyone wrong.
“While I was pregnant, I kept telling myself, I can’t wait till I’m back out there,” she said. “I’m going to look hot, and I’m going to be that b****.”
She canceled her tour
While she planned a tour for Invasion of Privacy, she canceled it shortly after giving birth to her daughter, Kulture. It hadn’t been an easy decision.
“I was really, really scared,” she told Rolling Stone in 2024, adding, “I just [felt] like, damn, I’m letting everybody down. I’m letting my family down. I’m letting everybody that works for me down.”
Still, she felt canceling the tour was the right thing to do. She couldn’t imagine taking an infant on the road with her.
“My baby was so little — germs and planes and ear popping on a newborn?” she said. “Can you imagine a baby in a f***ing tour bus?”
She said she also didn’t feel mentally prepared for the grueling work.
“It f***ed me up. Yo, postpartum is something you can’t even explain,” she said, adding, “Postpartum everything. It becomes depression because it’s a drastic change,”
Cardi B is going to tour despite her pregnancy
Cardi announced her fourth pregnancy shortly before dropping her sophomore album, Am I the Drama?. She assured fans that she will be ready to perform after giving birth.
“Album drops Friday!” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Thank you everybody for the love and support…by the time tour comes I’ll be doing splits, somersaults backflips and handstands I want this really bad and I’m on a very strict plan.. trust me I’m determined to give my fans the best album AND tour experience!!”
Her tour begins on Feb. 11, 2026 in Palm Desert, CA.
