While the reporter’s question was certainly in poor taste, Cardi’s response seemed a bit more reactive than necessary. We now know she was trying to keep a secret. The “WAP” singer is expecting a baby with her boyfriend, Stefon Diggs. The pregnancy announcement also comes on the heels of some contention between Cardi B and her estranged husband, Offset. The pair has yet to finalize their split.

Cardi B announces a surprise fourth pregnancy

Cardi B has made it official. The famed musical artist will soon be a mother of four. Cardi B announced her pregnancy during an appearance on CBS Mornings, telling Gayle King that she’s excited and happy about the new addition. Cardi also revealed that the new addition is due to arrive before she kicks off her long-planned tour.

That means Cardi B has been hiding this secret for several months already. Her tour, Little Miss Drama, is set to kick off in Palm Desert, California, on February 11. According to Billboard, she’ll make 32 stops across the United States and Canada before wrapping up the tour in Atlanta in April. Since she’s confident the baby will arrive well ahead of her tour, fans can expect a baby announcement in the next few months.

The announcement gives context to her crash out earlier this month

Cardi B is thrilled to be expecting a baby with Stefon Diggs, but she was not thrilled to have a reporter question her outside of a courtroom earlier this month. Back on September 2, Cardi B was talking with fans outside of a California courtroom when a reporter asked her if she anticipated any potential paternity issues. The comment, in reference to rumors that Offset fathered a fourth child with the music artist, angered Cardi.

She turned quickly and hurled a pen at the reporter, calling him “disrespectful,” and noted that only men thought it was okay to ask her such invasive questions. She went on to tell the man that his mother raised him better and to have some manners.

The incident was heavily reported and picked apart. While Cardi B is known for having a temper on occasion, many women sided with the artist this time around. Now, with the added context that she was, in fact, already pregnant, it’s easy to see why she reacted as strongly as she did. The reporter who initially posed the question has not commented further.

How long have Cardi B and Stefon Diggs been together?

Cardi B might not be divorced just yet, but her relationship with Stefon Diggs isn’t all that young. While the couple only publicly confirmed their relationship in May 2025, with a high-profile courtside appearance at a Knicks vs. Celtics NBA Playoffs game, they were rumored to be dating for several months before that. Rumors started circulating in October 2024. Cardi B filed for divorce from Offset in July 2024.

The upcoming arrival will be Cardi B’s fourth child and Stefon Diggs’ second. Cardi has three children with her soon-to-be-ex-husband, Offset. Kulture, Wave, and Blossom were born in 2018, 2021, and 2024, respectively. Diggs welcomed his first child, a girl named Nova, in 2016. She has appeared with him at NFL games.
