Cardi B has been gearing up to tour for her sophomore album, Am I the Drama? Fans have eagerly awaited her tour, but have recently worried that they won’t be able to go at all. Cardi announced her pregnancy, and fans have wondered if she has plans to cancel the tour. She assured them that she will not cancel. Ahead of her first tour, though, she did cancel because of a recent pregnancy.

Cardi B canceled her last tour due to her pregnancy

In 2018, Cardi released her debut studio album, Invasion of Privacy. Just months after dropping the album, though, she gave birth to her first child. She had plans to tour but decided her best move would be to cancel.

“I was really, really scared,” she told Rolling Stone in 2024. “I just [felt] like, damn, I’m letting everybody down. I’m letting my family down. I’m letting everybody that works for me down.”

Still, she thinks this was her best move. She wanted to spend time with her daughter and knew it wouldn’t be safe to bring her on the road.

“My baby was so little — germs and planes and ear popping on a newborn?” she said. “Can you imagine a baby in a f***ing tour bus?”

Cardi B gave fans an update on her upcoming tour after her pregnancy announcement 

Because Cardi canceled her tour for Invasion of Privacy, her upcoming tour will be the first one she’s ever headlined. She told fans that they have no need to worry. Though she’s pregnant, she said she will be ready to perform by the time her tour starts.

“Album drops Friday!” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Thank you everybody for the love and support…by the time tour comes I’ll be doing splits, somersaults backflips and handstands I want this really bad and I’m on a very strict plan.. trust me I’m determined to give my fans the best album AND tour experience!!”

She noted that even though she is pregnant, she is already preparing to tour. Fans should prepare for a good show.

“I know I’m a good performer. Well, am I? No, I’m great,” she told Billboard. “I’m actually really great because I was a stripper. (Laughs.) But no, I think my personal tour is not going to be like any other performances that I’ve ever had. From the aesthetics to the look to even the way I perform, I’m going to be doing things that I don’t normally do, like work out, because I want to be the best.”

Her tour will kick off in February.

She said she makes the most money when she performs live

Cardi has faced criticism for the pace at which she releases albums and her relative lack of live performances. She insisted that it’s in her best interest to tour because it makes her the most money. She doesn’t want to rush the process, though.

“A lot of people say I got comfortable because I make money, but the most money I make is when I go and do shows,” she said. “I could rush and put out music like it’s nothing and then pick up millions of dollars per show, but it’s not about that. I want the music to be great. I want it to be amazing.”

Her latest album, Am I the Drama? comes out on Sept. 19.
