Cardi B has a successful music career, and now she’s trying to make it in the beauty industry with a hair care line. She said she experimented with DIY beauty products and realized she had a knack for it. While she said she feels confident in the line, she still has some concerns about ruining her fans’ hair.

Cardi B launched a hair care line

In April, Cardi will launch her Grow-Good Beauty Hair-Care Line. This will include a shampoo, conditioner, hair mask, and serum. She said her skill with natural products convinced her she could launch a hair care line.

“I made Grow-Good because I really put the work in on my hair,” she told WWD, adding, “I was doing my own masks in my kitchen, using what I already knew from my family’s recipes and what I learned from my own research. I really took my time to get my hair looking healthy again after years of damage. And guess what? It worked. Now I wanna share my hair journey with everybody.”

The brand will officially launch on April 15.

Cardi B shared why she has concerns about her hair care line

While Cardi described her line as a dream come true, she admitted she has some concerns about launching a hair care brand. She feels even more nervous about it than she would an album release.

“A bad song is not gonna f*** up your life,” she told Allure. “Imagine you put some s*** into your hair, and you damage it, and I’m responsible?!”

She said she will view the company as a success if she has returning customers.

“People are gonna buy my s***just off my name, but are you gonna come back?” she asked. “It’s about coming back.”

She shared the DIY mistake fans shouldn’t make

When Cardi cooks up a hair serum in her kitchen, she admits she uses some unconventional products. Onions, she said, do wonders for hair, and they don’t leave a lasting scent.

“Onions!” she said “Do not! Make! Your! Hair! Stink!”

Garlic, on the other hand, proved not to be a miracle product.

“I tried garlic…” she said. “Do not put garlic in your hair.”

The results were so disastrous that she spoke about it in more than one interview.

“I put garlic, but I put it too raw on my hair. For six months straight, every time I sweat, I smell like a pasta bowl,” she said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “No garlic, I will never do that again. It didn’t work out. I had been doing rice water, onion water, but this time, I decided to go raw garlic… and I was smelling like a chicken Caesar salad for six months straight. It was so horrible.”

She said she would “never” use it again.
