Cardi B Once Said That Meeting Offset Was a ‘Blessing’ to Her Career

Cardi B and Offset are currently going through a contentious divorce. The couple has sparred over social media and are still clashing over their divorce proceedings. Before the messy end of their relationship, though, they felt lucky to have met each other. Even before she confirmed their romance, Cardi said she felt lucky to have met Offset.

Cardi B spoke about the way Offset impacted her career

Before she released her debut album, Cardi worked with Offset on the song “Lick.” At that time, there were rumors that the two were romantically involved. Cardi refused to confirm the rumors, but she told Fader that “a lot of positive things came out of that” collaboration.” She believed that seeing his work ethic helped her own career.

“It’s been a blessing, me meeting him and meeting his friends,” she said in 2017. “I see how hard they work. And that motivated me to work even harder.”

She added that seeing his success made her want to reach similar levels for herself. She realized that throwing herself into her work would help her get there.

“And I see how good things are going for them and how popping it is to be number one,” she said. “And I’m like, I want that. A lot of people just see they jewelry and they money, but I don’t think a lot of people see how hard they work for that s*** every single day.”

Cardi B shared why divorcing Offset was hard for her

Years after she spoke so glowingly about him, Cardi and Offset are going through a divorce. She said the relationship was draining the life out of her.

“I don’t think people understand how tired I was. How tired, how mentally drained I was,” she said on X Spaces. “Drained, drained, drained. Couldn’t eat. I was getting frequent headaches. I was literally losing my mind.”

She said she gave him multiple chances, but she realized that the situation was out of control.

“I was going to end up going to jail, ‘cause I was going to end up killing them,” she said. “Seriously, with my own bare hands. ‘Cause it was just getting so … it was just getting too much.”

They still have not finalized their divorce.

Her current boyfriend offered to ‘heal’ her after her marriage

Cardi has moved on to a relationship with NFL player Stefon Diggs. While she felt nervous about reentering the dating pool, she said she was ready for it.

“So restarting again, yeah,” she told Gayle King for CBS News. “And being open. And vulnerable.”

She said Diggs helped her move on from the painful end of her relationship with Offset.

“One time, he just told me. ‘Let me heal you. Give me a chance for me to heal you,’” she said. “And it’s like, ‘Okay.’”

She said she feels very comfortable in the new relationship.

“Me and my man, we’re very supportive of each other. We’re like in the same space in our careers,” she said. “I feel like we’re really great and one of the best at what we do. And me and him think the same way. ‘Yeah, you’re one of the greatest, but what’s next. What are we doing again? We have to do it again, all the time.’ We’re never, like, comfortable. We just have to keep going it and that’s just what we are.”

Cardi and Diggs welcomed their first child in 2025.
