Cardi B Said She Struggled to Look at Her Kids After Offset Heartbreak

Cardi B is currently navigating a divorce from Offset. The couple began dating in 2017 and have had an on-and-off again relationship that ended when Cardi filed for divorce in 2024. Their relationship has turned acrimonious since their split. Cardi said she knows she’s done with her marriage, but this didn’t do much to temper her heartbreak. After they broke up, she said she felt so heartbroken she could hardly look at her children.

Cardi B said her divorce from Offset left her devastated

Cardi B said her relationship with Offset frustrated her to the point of no return. She knows the relationship is over, but coming to this realization left her reeling. 

“It almost felt like what people experience when they go through withdrawal, and like, they’re throwing up,” she told Kelly Rowland on Spotify’s “Countdown To Am I The Drama?” “Like, I felt like I was withdrawing love.”

She struggled to function in the aftermath of their split. Even looking at her children, who likely remind her of her estranged husband, brought her to tears.

“And I’m not even trying to sound exaggerated,” she said. “I can’t eat, I can’t sleep, I can’t think, I can’t work, I can’t even look at my kids’ faces because it’s like I just want to cry just looking at them.”

Still, she said she didn’t question her decision to end the marriage.

“You just know that it’s done in you,” she explained. “It just dies in you. But when it dies, it’s very painful.”

Cardi B has also expressed anger amid her split from Offset

Cardi explained that she was reaching her breaking point in the marriage. She accused Offset of repeatedly cheating on her, and she said his lies about it wore her down.

“I don’t think people understand how tired I was. How tired, how mentally drained I was,” she said, per People. “Drained, drained, drained. Couldn’t eat. I was getting frequent headaches. I was literally losing my mind.”

She thinks it’s a good thing that she left the marriage, because she was at the end of her rope.

“I was going to end up going to jail, ‘cause I was going to end up killing them,” she said. “Seriously, with my own bare hands. ‘Cause it was just getting so … it was just getting too much.”

She hopes for more children

Cardi shares three children with Offset, daughters Kulture and Blossom, and son Wave.

“My son, he’s like funny like me, and he [does] a lot of faces that I do, … and then he’s a little bad,” she said on The Jennifer Hudson Show (per People). “And then my daughter, she’s very girly like me. Like, she’s very … she got a little sass. But she’s a good girl.”

Blossom, her youngest, just turned one.

“I’m still learning the baby. I’m still learning her,” she told Hudson. “We still trying to figure her out.”

She hopes to have more children in the future, joking that she wanted to better her chances of one of them taking care of her in her old age.

“It’s like the more kids you have, the less of a possibility you go to a home,” she said. “One of them is going to wipe my butt.”
