Celebrities Distance Themselves from D4vd As Police Investigation Intensifies and Internet Sleuths Weigh In

LAPD officers are investigating the death of a teenage girl found inside the trunk of a Tesla registered to D4vd. After identifying the teen as Celeste Rivas, a 15-year-old who went missing from her California home more than a year ago, they’ve made several big steps forward. As the investigation progresses, D4vd, a 20-year-old R&B artist who gained fame on TikTok, remains quiet. Celebrities around him aren’t speaking a ton, but their actions speak volumes. Several notable stars from the music scene are distancing themselves from D4vd as the investigation continues and online sleuths uncover eerie connections between the music artist and the teen.

Celebrities distance themselves from D4vd

The Los Angeles Police Department has not named D4vd a suspect in the death of Celeste Rivas, but celebrities who once spent time with the artist are working overtime to distance themselves from the crime and the music star, regardless. Kali Uchis made a bold move by removing a song featuring D4vd from streaming platforms. Uchis explained that while they collaborated on a single track, they were not friends.

The R&B artist has also been losing followers in droves on social media. According to Social Blade, he experienced a spike in followers shortly after news about his Tesla broke; however, he lost over 20,000 followers on Instagram on September 18.  Several celebrities are among those in the mass exodus. Tyler, the Creator, was following D4vd until news reporters identified him as the owner of the Tesla. Ice Spice also unfollowed him, as did Addison Rae, according to The Tab. Hannah Bahhng isn’t following the artist, either. Bahhng and D4vd collaborated on a song earlier this summer.

D4vd has turned off comments on his Instagram account, but his profile remains public. His X account and YouTube channel also remain public.

A home associated with D4vd has also been searched

While the LAPD has remained quiet about D4vd’s potential connection to the case, it’s clear that investigators are closely examining the R&B artist. Following the identification of Celeste Rivas as the victim, police appeared at a property in the Hollywood Hills where Burke reportedly stayed in the past. While it’s unclear exactly how he’s connected to the home, he is reportedly not the owner of the $4 million property. Still, pictures the artist posted to social media earlier this year appear to match the property. According to SF Gate, police removed computers and other items from the home. The home is located in the same neighborhood where D4vd’s Tesla was abandoned.

The 20-year-old music artist was born in New York but raised in Texas. The Tesla, where Rivas’ body was found, was registered to a home in Hempstead, Texas. Despite maintaining an address in Texas, it appears that the artist spent a fair bit of time in Los Angeles in recent years.

Internet sleuths have been scouring D4vd’s life to try to find a connection

While the police are handling the real-life investigation, internet sleuths have jumped on the case. They’ve been busy poring over social media, Discord records, and details about the singer’s shows to draw a connection between D4vd and the deceased teen.

Reddit users have taken to the platform to discuss a leaked music track in which D4vd references a woman named Celeste. Followers also suggest the 20-year-old artist actively sought out someone named Celeste in a long-forgotten Discord chat. D4vd has been previously linked to a different woman named Celeste, though. That woman has gone private on Instagram, but left a message in her profile reading “Different Celeste!!!!”

There is more than a somewhat uncommon name to link D4vd to the victim in his trunk, claim fans and followers. TMZ was the first to report that D4vd and the teen shared the same “shh…” tattoo. Both the singer and Rivas have tattoos on their fingers, although the styles may differ slightly. Several sleuths also note that D4vd appeared to spend time in the city where Celeste lived with her family, though that could be a coincidence.

This is a developing situation. The LAPD has yet to name a suspect or share further details about the victim. It is unclear where D4vd as the investigation continues.
