Shortly after With Love, Meghan debuted in March, Netflix announced a Season 2 of Meghan Markle‘s lifestyle show. All of the episodes were shot together at once, so Netflix broke them up into two parts, which is not uncommon for streamers to do. However, according to one celebrity chef, the streaming giant wouldn’t have been so quick to distribute a second season of the former Suits star‘s series if it had known one thing first.

Here’s more on that and the reactions so far to the Season 2 trailer of With Love, Meghan.

Netflix wouldn’t have given Meghan a second season if it could have predicted this

According to Jameson Stocks, who has cooked for King Charles as well as several celebrities, there’s no way Netflix would release With Love, Meghan Season 2 if it knew then what we know now.

The Michelin star recipient noted that “the second season was filmed immediately following the first.” He told Express that the streaming giant likely would have never green-lighted putting out a Season 2 if the streamer knew how “poor” the first season would do.

Stocks said, “If Netflix had predicted the first season’s poor performance, they probably wouldn’t have approved a second. Anyone in the TV industry knows it’s more cost-effective to shoot one, two, or even three seasons back-to-back. However, I don’t believe there’s any real momentum, and the ratings clearly reflect that.”

Stocks added: “Honestly, I would feel embarrassed by the numbers and ratings. For it not to even rank in Netflix’s top 300 shows is truly reflective of her apparent star appeal and frankly, embarrassing.”

The first season of With Love, Meghan appeared at No. 383 on the company’s semi-annual report.

Only time will tell what the ratings for the next season will be like. But the trailer for season 2 isn’t getting much “love” as it’s not easy to find any positive comments.

“Pretending half of season one is a fresh season two is cobblers, Netflix!” one person quipped.

“Thank you, Netflix, for finding something to do with all the scrap footage that was deemed insufficient to put in ‘season 1.’ I call this the leftover season. It certainly was never meant to air,” another said.

“Not even hate-watching will propel it into the top 200 Netflix shows,” a third person opined.

And a fourth didn’t hold back, writing: “Yes, what we REALLY need are lessons in ‘showing people you care’ and how to ‘show up lovingly’ from a woman who is completely estranged from her father, siblings, extended family, & in-laws, & whose husband has become completely estranged from his entire family since marrying her, and who has notoriously frozen out numerous people she called friends when they were no longer useful to her, and who is the focus of bullying allegations from many sources on two continents. Thanks, Netflix, for your unparalleled talent-spotting!”
