Charli XCX’s ‘Bold’ Nontraditional Wedding Ring Makes a ‘Refreshing Statement,’ Said Expert
On July 19, Charli XCX and The 1975’s George Daniel married in a low-key wedding ceremony at Hackney Town Hall. Charli opted for a relatively traditional, though short, dress and an edgier wedding band that has fans talking. Here’s why the ring is a perfect fit for Charli.
Charli XCX had a low-key wedding in London
This month, Charli and George married at the Hackney Town Hall before heading to a local Italian restaurant for pasta and cake. Their friends and family were in attendance, but it was a relatively low-key affair, especially for a celebrity. This was reportedly by design.
“Charli and George wanted the [Hackney] ceremony to feel special and personal, but not over-the-top,” an insider told People, adding, “They have been planning this for months and were so excited to finally say ‘I do’ even if it was low-key. They danced all night. They have such playful energy as a couple. It was the most fun celebration.”
Charli XCX’s wedding ring is a perfect representation of her personal style
Charli wore Vivienne Westwood’s Nova Cora mini dress with white shoes, a veil, and black sunglasses. Her wedding band has also caught fans’ attention. She has a diamond solitaire engagement ring that she has now paired with a chunky platinum band.
“Charli XCX’s wedding ring immediately catches the eye for its distinctive departure from traditional bridal jewellery,” Nilesh Rakholia, a jewelry expert and founder of Abelini, tells Showbiz Cheatsheet. “It truly embodies her individuality and bold aesthetic.”
He estimated that the band could have cost up to £10,000 because of the material and design.
“Based on the prominent design and likely use of a premium metal such as platinum, we estimate Charli XCX’s wedding ring to be valued in the range of £8,000 to £10,000,” Rakholia added. “This valuation reflects not just the material cost, but also the intricate craftsmanship involved in creating such a substantial and sculptural piece. It’s a significant investment for a wedding band, highlighting a preference for unique design over conventional sparkle.”
Charli became the ultimate cool girl last summer with Brat, and this ring is a reflection of this. She’s able to stand out even with a wedding band.
“The ring’s bold, chunky, and twisted design is a refreshing statement,” he said. “It’s a modern take on a classic symbol, showcasing an artistic and almost architectural quality. This choice perfectly complements her avant-garde persona and signals a confident embrace of unconventional style, even in something as personal as a wedding ring. It’s particularly noteworthy in the celebrity sphere, where often more elaborate or diamond-heavy bands are chosen. Charli’s ring stands out for its unique form and personal expression, making it a truly iconic piece that beautifully merges high fashion with personal sentiment.”
They will reportedly have another ceremony later this summer
Charli and George hosted their dinner at an Italian restaurant in a nod to a later ceremony they have planned in Sicily.
“They have a larger celebration planned for Sicily,” a source said. “They’ve always dreamed of a big party in Italy. Somewhere beautiful and private, where all their friends can let loose. It will be star-studded. This was always the plan. London was the official wedding, but a big event is happening too and it will be epic.”
While this recent ceremony was understated, the couple will reportedly go all out at the party.
“Charli and George fell in love with Sicily and knew they wanted to get married there,” another source said. “It’s incredibly secluded and romantic. There will be no expense spared. It’s costing tens of thousands of pounds, and visually it will be mesmerizing. Charli and George said they wanted a massive party and there are no restrictions on when the bar has to close, so it can go on all night.”
While some friends, like George’s bandmate Matty Healy, did not attend the first ceremony, the second will reportedly be full of stars.
