Quarterback Dillion Gabriel played his college football at three different schools. He was the signal caller for the UCF Knights in 2019, before transferring to the Oklahoma Sooners in 2022, and then the Oregon Ducks for one season.

Gabriel was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2025 NFL draft. He initially started the season as a backup to veteran Joe Flacco, but head coach Kevin Stefanski decided ahead of Week 5 to make a change and go with Gabriel as the starter.

Now that he’s playing on the big stage, fans want to know more about Gabriel and his fiancée, Zo Caswell.

Gabriel and Caswell have known each other since middle school

Gabriel and Caswell have known each other since they were kids when they went to the same middle school.

“We met in the summer of 6th-to 7th grade actually,” Caswell told Oregon’s KOIN. “Because we were both new to this school. We had a little orientation class. We met gardening, funny enough. He kept coming closer and closer to me and I was like, ‘Who’s this weird guy?’”

That “weird” guy was Gabriel, who ended up charming Caswell, and the two dated briefly back then. They decided to start dating seriously years later when they were in 11th grade. They uploaded their first Instagram post together in 2018 and have shown plenty of love and support for each other on social media ever since.

When Gabriel and Caswell got engaged

Caswell has been right by Gabriel’s side since his high school days as a quarterback, and the athlete previously spoke about how important it is to have her in his corner as he deals with the pressures that come with the position.

“When you can come home to a person that just understands you for being you and you don’t necessarily have to say anything, you appreciate that,” Gabriel explained.

Caswell talked about that pressure as well, saying: “We forget to have fun at times,” Caswell said. “There’s so much pressure. You always want to win, you want to be perfect, but you want to look back in 20 years and be like, ‘Wow, that was a really cool time in my life.’”

On Sept. 1, 2024, Gabriel got down on one knee and asked his longtime partner to marry him. Caswell happily accepted, and the couple shared their happy news in a joint Instagram post with a carousel of photos, including a close-up of the ring and a snap of the pair embracing.
