Cory Wharton Pens a Goodbye Letter to ‘Teen Mom’ Fans; Jenelle Evans Says It’s Not Over Yet
MTV still hasn’t announced whether or not they are pulling the plug on their long-time franchise, Teen Mom. Apparently, Cory Wharton didn’t get the memo that an official announcement had not yet been made. The cast member, who admittedly joined very late in the franchise’s history, took to Instagram to pen a long goodbye letter to fans, insisting the series is officially in the books. Jenelle Evans, who has been fired by the network multiple times, is clapping back. She insists the Teen Mom franchise has not been canceled.
Cory Wharton says ‘Teen Mom’ is over
There have been rumors that Teen Mom: The Next Chapter had been canceled for months. Both Brittany DeJesus and Ryan Edwards insisted the show was over months ago. Other castmembers revealed they were in a holding pattern, waiting on MTV to make a final decision. Cory Wharton has now announced that the decision has been made.
On February 6, Wharton took to Instagram to thank fans for their love and support. He revealed the show had been canceled and reflected on the journey his family and he had taken over the last several years, while opening up on camera. Wharton insisted that while the series was over, he wasn’t done sharing his parenting journey with fans.
Wharton joined the Teen Mom franchise in 2018 with his ex-partner, Cheyenne Floyd. Floyd and Wharton share one daughter, Ryder. Their current partners, Taylor Selfridge and Zach Davis, were later featured as well.
Jenelle Evans doesn’t think the end has come
While Cory seems pretty certain that Teen Mom has been canceled, Jenelle Evans is adamant that it hasn’t. Shortly after Wharton published his touching tribute to the franchise, Evans crawled back to social media to clap back. She took to X (formerly Twitter) to insist that there have been “little talks” with the network, but that a cancellation notice had not been issued. The way she worded her statement, you’d think she was planning yet another return, though she has been fired by MTV on multiple occasions already.
Jenelle was one of the original Teen Mom 2 cast members, welcoming her son, Jace Evans, on 16 and Pregnant way back in 2010. She appeared on Teen Mom 2 until 2019, when she was fired after her now ex-husband, David Eason, shot and killed the family dog. After leaving Eason behind in 2024, she briefly reappeared on Teen Mom: The Next Chapter. The reprisal didn’t last long. She appeared in a handful of episodes before the production company prioritized telling the stories of other cast members.
