After Nicki Minaj tweeted about transgender kids, D.L. Hughley ripped both the rapper and her husband. California Governor Gavin Newsom spoke in support of transgender children, prompting Minaj to post about him. Newsom shaded Minaj on social media in response, but Hughley went after her in a much more direct manner.

The ‘Pink Friday’ rapper responded to a Gavin Newsom interview

In a recent interview with The New York Times, Newsom spoke about advocating for transgender children.

“I want to see trans kids. I have a trans godson,” he said. “There’s no governor who has signed more pro-trans legislation than I have. No one has been a stronger advocate for the L.G.B.T.Q. community.”

Minaj responded to Newsom’s remarks on X (formerly Twitter).

“Imagine being the guy running on wanting to see trans kids. Haha,” she wrote. “Not even a trans ADULT would run on that. Normal adults wake up & think they want to see HEALTHY, SAFE, HAPPY kids.”

Newsom’s Instagram account appeared to respond by posting a picture of Donald Trump with Jeffrey Epstein. Overlaying the image is information about Megan’s Law, which requires law enforcement to make information about sex offenders public knowledge. Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, and brother, Jelani Maraj, are registered sex offenders.

The post also included the song “HISS” by Megan Thee Stallion. Minaj interpreted the song as a diss because of the line, “These hoes don’t be mad at Megan, these hoes mad at Megan’s Law.”

D.L. Hughley ripped Nicki Minaj over her post

It was clear that Newsom’s post was about Minaj. Hughley took a much more direct hit at the rapper, though.

“Nicki Minaj shouldn’t post anything about kids cuz her husband can’t be within 1000 ft of one!” he wrote on X. “It ain’t Gavin [Newsom] it’s Chris [Hansen] she should be worried about.”

Hansen hosted Dateline’s series To Catch a Predator. Hughley followed this post up with an Instagram and TikTok video.

“I mean, I can’t tell people what to post or what to say, but Nicki Minaj damn sure needs to stay away from anything, posting anything about kids, trans or otherwise,” he said. “She supports a dude that is on the Epstein list 1,000 times,” referencing Donald Trump’s alleged appearance in the Epstein files.

“She’s actually married to a registered sex offender, a pedophile,” he added. “She shouldn’t be able to watch Jason Kidd or listen to Kid ‘n Play, New Kids on the Block. Hell, she gotta walk around the aisle with Cabbage Patch Kids on it, and she damn sure should stay away from Sour Patch Kids.”

Many people have sided with D.L. Hughley over Nicki Minaj

Hughley’s post brought in a great deal of support on social media.

“I am not sure why Mr. Hughley woke up and chose violence today, but I sure am glad he did,” wrote one Reddit user. “Not sure why, but ‘she has to walk around the cabbage patch aisle’ killed me.”

“Succinct. Devastating. Accurate. No notes,” added another person.

Many people expressed surprise that he went after Minaj in this way, but said they are glad he did.
