David Eason’s Upcoming Court Dates: Eveything You Need to Know
David Eason handled one legal issue earlier this week. He and his ex-girlfriend, Kenleigh Heatwole, came to an agreement on when he’d have his belongings removed from her home, and a temporary restraining order was dropped. According to sources, Eason was motivated to deal with the legal drama because he has much more pressing issues on the horizon. Eason has a custody hearing and a criminal court date coming up. This is when we can expect to see him in court again.
David Eason and Jenelle Evans will discuss custody of Ensley Eason in December
Now that he’s put to rest his issues with Heatwole, or, at the very least, has a path forward, David Eason can look ahead to his very next court battle. Right around the time he came face to face with his ex-girlfriend, he was also in court with his ex-wife.
Jenelle Evans was in North Carolina earlier this month to attend to some family matters. While she initially claimed she returned to the East Coast from her Las Vegas home to check up on her mother, Barbara Evans, after she suffered a stroke, insiders claim that’s not why she returned to North Carolina. Allegedly, she was in court over custody of Ensley Eason, but no decisions were made. According to the Ashley Reality Roundup Group, they’ll return to court in December for more custody drama.

As it stands, Evans has sole custody of Ensley Eason. Eason was ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation a year ago. It is unclear if he’s submitted that evaluation. She is the only child they share. Eason is the father of two more children, one of whom is now an adult. He also has a son with whom he is not currently allowed to have contact. Evans is the mother of 16-year-old Jace Evans and 11-year-old Kaiser Griffith. Jace’s father, Andrew Lewis, is not an active part of his life. Kaiser’s father, Nathan Griffith, is currently incarcerated.
He will come up against the state of North Carolina in January
After his custody hearing in December, David Eason will return to court yet again in January. When he steps foot into the courthouse in January, though, it will be for a criminal trial. According to court records, Eason’s trial for aggravated strangulation and child abuse is due to begin on January 26. An administrative hearing ahead of the trial is scheduled for December 1.
The charges stem from an October 2023 incident in which Eason allegedly attacked Jace Evans. The incident occurred during the brief period that the teen lived with his mother and Eason. He was removed from the home immediately and placed with other family members. In February 2024, Eason moved out of the home, and Jenelle Evans initiated divorce proceedings. While it is always possible that Eason will accept a plea deal closer to the start of the trial, it currently appears the prosecution will move forward with the charges. It is unclear if Jace will testify against his former stepfather. The aggravated assault charge is a felony and is punishable by up to three years behind bars.
