Who Is Denver Broncos Linebacker Alex Singleton’s Wife, Sam Amberik?
Alex Singleton, who was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Seattle Seahawks following the 2015 NFL Draft and spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles as well before joining the Denver Broncos, shared some personal news recently that he hopes will have an impact on others.
The linebacker revealed that he was diagnosed with testicular cancer after taking a random drug test. He then had a CT scan, which revealed the cancer had not spread to other places in his body, and underwent successful surgery on Nov. 7.
The Broncos co-captain shared the news via social media and received plenty of kind words and support from players around the league, including his teammates, fellow linebacker Nik Bonitto, defensive end Zach Allen, and cornerback Pat Surtain II. Singleton’s wife also shared a message about her husband after his surgery.
Here’s more on that and what we know about Sam Singleton.
How long Alex and Sam have been together
Sam Amberik was born in November 1993 and is believed to have roots in the City of Philadelphia, where Alex played from 2019 to 2021.
The two have kept their relationship private, so it’s not clear exactly when they began dating, but they’ve been appearing on each other’s social media since 2021.
They got engaged in July 2024 and were married in September 2025. The two also have one child together.
Sam is a self-proclaimed fashionista and boasts over 6,000 followers on Instagram.
Sam’s heartfelt message after her husband’s surgery
Alex decided to publicly share the news of his diagnosis, knowing that if it helps even one person “it’s well worth it.”
The athlete posted a statement about the matter on Nov. 10, writing: “This morning, I stood before our team as a lucky man. I shared with my teammates and coaches that I underwent successful surgery on Friday for testicular cancer after being diagnosed last week. Thankfully we believe the cancer was caught early enough with a great prognosis for me and my family. While we are still awaiting some additional test results, I fully expect to return to the field in the coming weeks.
“A little over two weeks ago, following a random test as part of the NFL’s Drug Testing Program, I received a notice that I had elevated levels of the hormone hCG in my system. Without a doubt, I knew with how diligent I am with what goes into my body that this was not from anything external I may have taken. After speaking with my agent and wife, we decided to book an appointment with a urologist.”
Alex continued, “On Monday, I visited Dr. Andrew Zilavy, who determined that, in fact, I had signs of a testicular tumor. I immediately contacted the Broncos, and they put me in contact with Dr. Geoff Ledgerwood, who was able to conduct an ultrasound immediately to confirm the diagnosis. And then Friday, after playing in the Raiders game the previous night, I underwent surgery to remove the cancerous tumor and begin the road to a full recovery.”
Sam re-shared her husband’s post on her Instagram Story and added a text overlay that read, “my super strong and amazing husband. I love you endlessly.”
She left a comment on his post, as well writing, “You’re incredible! ilysm [I love you so much],” alongside a purple heart emoji, the color traditionally associated with testicular cancer.
