What Was Diane Keaton’s Net Worth at the Time of Her Death?
Hollywood is mourning the loss of an icon after it was reported that Diane Keaton has died. She was 79 years old.
In audio from the 911 call on Oct. 11 obtained by TMZ, a dispatcher can be heard saying there’s a “person down” at Keaton’s address in the early morning hours. When authorities arrived, the star was transported to a local hospital by the Los Angeles Fire Department. A cause of death has not been released at this time.
Keaton made a decision recently that some believe hinted that she was having financial issues, but was that really the case? Here’s more on that and what Keaton’s net worth was at the time of her death.
Tributes have poured in for Diane Keaton
Keaton starred in so many classic films, including The Godfather, Something’s Gotta Give, and Father of the Bride. Many of her co-stars paid tribute to the legendary actress.
In an Instagram post, herThe First Wives Club castmate, Bette Midler, wrote: “The brilliant, beautiful, extraordinary Diane Keaton has died. I cannot tell you how unbearably sad this makes me.”
In his Instagram Stories, actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who worked with Keaton in 1996’s Marvin’s Room, shared: “Diane Keaton was one of a kind. Brilliant, funny, and unapologetically herself. A legend, [an] icon, and a truly kind human being. I had the honor of working with her at 18. She will be deeply missed.”
Keaton’s fellow Book Club star Jane Fonda also paid tribute on Instagram, writing, “She was always a spark of life and light, constantly giggling at her own foibles, being limitlessly creative … in her acting, her wardrobe, her books, her friends, her homes, her library, her worldview. Unique is what she was. And, though she didn’t know it or wouldn’t admit it, man she was a fine actress!”
Did listing her house have anything to do with Keaton’s finances?
Throughout her life, Keaton was very active in real estate and was known to flip houses after restoring them. However, in 2017, she told Wine Spectator that her Sullivan Canyon five-bedroom LA abode was her “dream house” and the one place that felt like home to her. So friends and family were surprised when she decided to list her beloved property in March 2025 for nearly $29 million.
Many questioned her choice to sell it and speculated that she may have wanted to do so for financial reasons. Well, turns out it had nothing to do with Keaton’s finances. Instead, it’s being reported that the sale may have had to do with her declining health in recent months.
“In her final months, she was surrounded only by her closest family, who chose to keep things very private,” the source told People. “Even longtime friends weren’t fully aware of what was happening.”
Keaton’s net worth when she died
Keaton didn’t have any financial woes to worry about thanks to her long and successful career.
She appeared in more than 70 films over the course of her career and won an Academy Award for her role in Woody Allen’s Annie Hall. She had a handful of TV roles, too. Keaton appeared in HBO’s The Young Pope in 2016 and Green Eggs and Ham in 2019.
In addition to acting, Keaton also made money from her longtime partnership with L’Oréal. She had been a spokesperson for the cosmetic brand since 2006.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Keaton had an estimated net worth of $100 million at the time of her death.
