Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has experienced several holidays behind bars since his September 2024 arrest. He’s weathered Christmas and Thanksgiving at the Metropolitan Detention Center. He’s rung in a new year at the facility and enjoyed a special schedule to observe Easter. The disgraced rap mogul will now welcome the summer months with a Memorial Day celebration at the facility. Depending on how his case shakes out, it could be his only Memorial Day weekend behind bars or the first of many. Let’s look at how the inmates at MDC will be celebrating.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs will enjoy a better menu than is typical for Memorial Day Weekend

Prison food is notoriously bad. Its holiday menus aren’t much better. Still, enhancements are made to help inmates celebrate major holidays, even while they serve time behind bars.

Page Six got its hands on the MDC’s Memorial Day celebration menu, and it seems inmates will be enjoying something special for lunch. According to the publication, inmates, including Diddy, at the Metropolitan Detention Center will start Memorial Day with fruit and cereal. Their mid-day meal will shake things up with some BBQ action. They’ll have BBQ chicken, macaroni and cheese, and a vegetable offering. Inmates will enjoy a special dessert to round out the meal. There are no cheeseburgers on the menu.

Later in the evening, Diddy and his fellow inmates will return to the dining hall for chicken, rice, beans, and whole wheat bread. The evening meal doesn’t include a dessert. The special menu might not seem like much, but it is far different than a standard menu. Standard menu days don’t offer desserts, and the lunch menu is typically much more sparse, according to insiders.

Will Diddy get to spend time outside during the long weekend?

While Inmates at MDC Brooklyn are typically allotted one hour of outdoor recreation daily, weather permitting, they’ll get a bit more fresh air than normal on Memorial Day Weekend. Basketball and other outdoor recreation will be extended, according to insiders. Less time in court also means Diddy will have some free time to spend outside.

Despite the increased time outside, inmates at MDC don’t really have the best setup for getting some fresh air. Because the detention center is located in the heart of one of Brooklyn’s industrial areas, there are no wide open spaces for inmates. The facility doesn’t have a typical “yard,” as is often seen at more rural detention centers. Instead, the outdoor recreation area is enclosed, limiting the enjoyment of nature.
