During his 2017 appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Momoa admitted to having a childhood crush on Bonet. During the interview, he recalled seeing her on The Cosby Show and falling for her instantly. Though he was just 8 years old at the time, Momoa said he told his mom he wanted “that one.” He joked that he was a full-blown stalker, but knew better than to tell Bonet that upon meeting. He revealed that he had only revealed his childhood crush to her after they had been together for some time.

Bonet landed her role on The Cosby Show while still a teen. She first appeared as Denise Huxtable in 1984. The series wrapped in 1991. It was more than a decade before Momoa and Bonet actually met. The former flames were first linked in 2005. At the time, he was 26, and she was 37.

Why did they break up?

Lisa Bonet and Jason Momoa announced their breakup in January 2022. The couple’s romance ended after nearly two decades together, though they married only in 2017. Bonet and Momoa’s relationship was pretty public in its final years; they opted to stay quiet about their split. In a joint statement, they revealed that life had taken them in different directions and that they had parted so they could continue their independent journeys.

Momoa’s busy schedule was largely cited as a major source of conflict in the romance, though neither Momoa nor Bonet confirmed that. Since the split, the former flames continue to coparent. The process has been drama-free, it seems.  Their daughter is now 18. Their son is 16. Neither Bonet nor Momoa has publicly dated anyone since the split.
