Dolly Parton Rejected Meghan Markle’s Offer to Appear on the Duchess’s Netflix Lifestyle Show
The first eight episodes of Meghan Markle‘s Netflix show debuted in March and featured a few of her celebrity pals including Mindy Kaling and Abigail Spencer. But there have been reports that the Duchess of Sussex was hoping to get even bigger stars to join her in the kitchen. Now, we’re hearing that one person she had in mind was Dolly Parton. However, the Queen of County turned the offer down.
Here’s more about Parton’s refusal to make a cameo on With Love, Meghan, and what one of the singer’s family members once said about other royals being “jealous” of Prince Harry’s wife.
Report that Parton turned down offer to appear on ‘With Love, Meghan’
Royal commentator and To Di For Daily podcast host Kinsey Scholfield shared the news she was told about Parton being asked to appear on Meghan’s lifestyle show.
Scholfield explained that Parton has always been a fan of the royals, noting that she performed at Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee celebration back in the ’70s and gushed about meeting the late monarch, calling it “one of the biggest thrills of her life.” Parton also appeared via video duringt the queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 to congratulate her on her reign.
Two years later, the “Jolene” artist invited Prince William, the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton), and their three children to her Dollywood theme park for the day, telling Closer Magazine: “Oh, I would absolutely love for them to come to Dollywood, that would be fantastic! The kids could go on all the rides and we would treat them like royalty.”
Parton added: “I’d give Kate my mashed potatoes. I wouldn’t put on any airs for them. I would just let them enjoy what we enjoy, and I’m sure that’s the way they would want it. I would love to have those kids at Dollywood.”
Parton recently told the Huffington Post that she will be traveling to London in the fall and made plans to have tea with Queen Camilla then.
Given that Parton is such a fan of the royals, it makes sense that she didn’t care to rock the boat and go on Meghan’s show.
According to Schofield’s source, “Meghan’s team has openly pursued Dolly for the Netflix show. Dolly declined.”
Parton’s sister once sided with Prince Harry and Meghan

While Parton is and has always been a fan of the royals, her sister, Stella, once expressed her support for Meghan and Prince Harry over the royal family.
Express noted that after the Sussexes stepped down from their royal roles in 2020, Stella complimented the duchess and commended the duke for moving out of the U.K.
“I don’t blame Harry for manning up and getting his family away from that toxic waste heap,” Stella said at the time.
She then opined that those who attended the couple’s wedding were “jealous” of Meghan, saying: “When those kids walked into that church everyone was jealous and treated Harry and his gorgeous, talented, brilliant wife like outcasts. I smell jealousy a mile away.”
