The ‘Door for Reconciliation’ Between the Royal Family and Sussexes Is ‘Closed’ Because it Can’t Work the Way Meghan Wants
Just when most people thought Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved on from trashing the royal family, the Duke of Sussex proved otherwise by doing an interview with the BBC right after his court case to have his private security reinstated was dismissed.
The prince told the outlet that King Charles “won’t speak to me because of this security stuff,” but that he did not want to fight anymore because he doesn’t “know how much longer my father has.”
Harry added that he has “forgiven” his family and “would love reconciliation … There’s no point continuing to fight anymore; life is precious.”
But now those close to the royals are revealing why the family will not speak to Harry and why there won’t ever be any reconciliation with Meghan either.
Why the royals have not reconciled with Prince Harry after his claims in the BBC interview
A royal insider spoke to Hello! Magazine and shared the exact reason why Harry shouldn’t hold his breath waiting for that reconciliation, telling the publication: “There is zero trust. The family feels that private conversations with Harry are not possible.
“It’s taken its toll. [Harry] sees things everywhere. He picks battles with everybody and that’s tiring. You can’t live in permanent battle mode. You’re a 40-year-old man. You’ve got to stop fighting the world.”
Buckingham Palace issued a rare response following the prince’s interview, saying: “All of these issues have been examined repeatedly and meticulously by the courts, with the same conclusion reached on each occasion.”
And the BBC has since apologized for failing to “properly challenge” the claims made by Harry and admitted that it should have included responses from both the Home Office and Buckingham Palace.
The family won’t reconcile with Meghan either because she doesn’t understand how things work
While the reasons the royals cannot reconcile with the duke may seem simple and obvious, there are other reasons they won’t even consider doing so with the duchess.
A source told OK! Magazine, “One of Meghan’s biggest issues was that she never fully understood the gravitas of what it means to be marrying into the Firm. She didn’t necessarily understand the rules and how it operates. The royal family isn’t a normal family, so a family argument or, even worse, an estrangement, isn’t the same for the royals as it is for everyone else, including her.
“The door for reconciliation is probably closed now for future generations too. Serious situations like this don’t just ease over time. The royal family doesn’t and can’t work like that. Meghan’s been so focused on rebranding herself — which she does need to do, especially in the States where her popularity is dipping – that maybe she doesn’t realize how huge this is for Harry. She needs to realize now and step up for Harry because he’s going to need her. She loves him deeply and wouldn’t want to see him hurting, so she’s going to have to understand the pain he’s in and focus on him for a while.”
