Elon Musk Is Feuding With His Son’s Mother: A Lawsuit Has Been Filed
Elon Musk is embroiled in yet another feud. The Tesla founder is well-known for his Twitter wars and custody woes. While the focus of his ire for the last few years has been his ex, Grimes, he’s taking aim at a different former love interest. Musk recently revealed he plans to seek full custody of his son with Ashley St. Clair. The announcement came after she changed her stance on several divisive issues. St. Clair isn’t going to sit idly by, though. She’s not only fired back at Musk, but she’s also suing Musk’s company, xAI, seeking punitive and compensatory damages. Here is everything that has happened so far.
Ashley St. Clair reveals that her opinions on several divisive issues have changed
Ashley St. Clair recently used social media to issue an apology to the transgender community. Earlier this month, St. Clair responded to a follower who asked her to address transphobic comments she had made in the past. St. Clair said she feels guilty about the comments she has made and is learning privately in hopes of advocating for those harmed by her past views. St. Clair went on to note that she feels especially guilty for any comments that may have hurt her son’s sister.
St. Clair was referring to Vivian Wilson, the 21-year-old daughter that Musk shares with his ex-wife, Justine Wilson. Vivian came out as transgender in 2020. She shared her experience in a lengthy article last year. Vivian changed her name in 2022, stating she didn’t wish to be associated with her father. She took her mother’s maiden name.
Elon Musk says he’s going to seek full custody of the son he shares with Ashley St. Clair
Following Ashley St. Clair’s expression of remorse for her previous remarks, Musk took to X (formerly Twitter) to claim he would seek full custody of the child they share. Musk claimed he was concerned about her intentions with the one-year-old. It does not appear that the often-erratic tech mogul has filed for custody at this time. St. Clair has responded, though she didn’t delve too deep into Musk’s statement.
Ashley St. Clair welcomed her son, Romulus, in September 2024, but did not announce his arrival or the child’s paternity until February 2025. Musk has not spoken about the child until just recently. According to People, St. Clair alleged that Musk offered her $15 million and $100,000 per month in exchange for not naming him as the father of her son. It’s unclear why Musk was so interested in keeping the child a secret.
Elon Musk is the father of 14 children. Romulus is St. Clair’s first child. He has had a difficult coparenting relationship with his first wife, Justine Wilson, and his former partner, Grimes. Wilson and Musk share six children. He has three children with Grimes.
The influencer is suing xAI over ‘deep fake’ sexual images that Grok created
While the initial feud was over child custody, things took another legal turn when St. Clair filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI. In the filing, Ashley St. Clair claims that Grok, the chatbot created by Musk’s company, generated and disseminated non-consensual sexually explicit deepfake images of her. According to Vanity Fair, St. Clair is seeking punitive damages, alleging that fake photos of her, including some of her as a minor, remained on X long after she reported them and requested they be removed.
The lawsuit was filed in New York Supreme Court on January 15. The lawsuit aims to hold Grok accountable. St. Clair’s lawsuit has gained media attention. It isn’t the first instance of concerns about Grok, though. Design flaws that have allowed the chatbot to create degrading imagery of real people have been heavily criticized in recent months. Musk has yet to comment on the filing.
