Selena Gomez has a new album to promote, a new season of Only Murders in the Building to film, and a wedding to plan. She’s also been dealing with a little bit of drama. All told, her schedule seems full. Still, she found time to work with Mondelez on a limited edition Oreo cookie flavor. It sounds out of this world.

Selena Gomez has collaborated with Oreo

Selena Gomez has partnered with Oreo to create a limited-edition cookie inspired by her favorite childhood drink. Two chocolate-cinnamon wafers will house chocolate and cinnamon creme that includes a layer of condensed milk cream. Cinnamon sugar will round out the cookie and help bring it to life. The cookie is inspired by Gomez’s favorite childhood drink, horchata. While several beverages are known as horchata, classic Mexican horchata is a sweet, rice-based drink with delicate cinnamon notes.

Why did Gomez pick horchata as her signature flavor? The pop artist is pretty nostalgic, especially when it comes to food. In recent months, she’s spoken openly about her favorite foods and how they connect her to her childhood in Texas. It seems her Oreo collaboration is no different. In a statement to Food & Wine, she said, “I wanted to find a way for it to feel comforting and have a bit of nostalgia from my childhood. The cinnamon flavor gives it this horchata feel, and I’m excited for my fans to try it.”

The cookies will be available in-store on June 9. You can pre-order them online beginning on June 2.

Other musical stars have collaborated with Oreo

Gomez’s Oreo collaboration is much-anticipated, but she’s not the first famous face to have worked with the iconic cookie company. In fact, Oreo has a pretty well-established habit of working with some of the most popular musical acts of our time. In 2021, Lady Gaga crafted a custom cookie. Earlier this year, Post Malone worked with the company to infuse his favorite flavors into a limited-edition offering, too.

Lady Gaga’s Oreo offering featured pink-colored Golden Oreo wafers. They were embossed with designs reflecting the aesthetic of her album, Chromatica. Inside, they were filled with a green creme. While the cookies looked very different, the flavor was almost indistinguishable from a classic Golden Oreo.

Post Malone’s limited-edition Oreo cookies did bring something new to the table. Both chocolate and golden wafer cookies were used for his flavor. The cookies feature a swirled creme that combines salted caramel and shortbread flavors. The cookies, still available in stores, are embossed with nine different designs representing some of Malone’s most popular songs.

Selena Gomez’s Oreo collaboration proceeds will go toward her Rare Impact Fund. The charity is focused on youth mental health and aims to raise $100 million for mental healthcare.
