Expert Says Kate ‘Wanted to Be Seen’ and Uncovers Meaning Behind French President Macron’s ‘Mischievous Gesture’ Towards Her
Britain’s royal family rolled out the red carpet for France’s President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit to the U.K.
The French politician and his wife, Brigitte, were greeted as they arrived in England by Prince William and the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton) before they were escorted to Windsor and welcomed by King Charles and Queen Camilla.
The French couple also attended a state banquet hosted by the royals on July 8. Some of the headlines from the evening include Kate’s gorgeous gown and Emmanuel’s wink at William’s wife. Now, a body language expert is sharing the princess’s reason for wearing the glamorous gown, and the meaning behind Macron’s “mischievous gesture” to Kate during the dinner.
Expert says Kate wore the ‘striking’ red gown because she ‘wanted to be seen’
Darren Stanton is a body language and behavioral expert with a degree in psychology. He previously worked as a police officer and used his expertise to uncover the truth when interviewing hundreds of suspects. He later moved into media and TV as a consultant and has been dubbed the “Human Lie Detector.”
Speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, Stanton told Showbiz Cheat Sheet: “Kate was in a fantastic red dress, which is her go-to power color. Red is all about being bold, striking, and not being in the background. The event was an important state occasion, so it’s clear that Kate wanted to set the tone and be seen. It was a striking red, which is a true representation of how she was feeling — confident and passionate.
“There were some great shots of Kate and William interacting. It’s apparent they’ve got a fantastic marriage, relationship, and deep respect for each other. The official portrait of them together shows them at the ultimate epitome of their relationship. They’re extremely tight and continue to have an even stronger bond.”
What Macron’s ‘mischievous gesture’ to Kate meant
According to Stanton, “Macron seemed to get along particularly well with Kate. They seemed to have struck up a great rapport and friendship. There was a nice shot of Macron and Kate sitting together, and he gave her a wink. He appears to really like Kate — they’ve definitely built a strong bond with each other and feel he can be slightly mischievous around her.
“Overall, there were no signs of people not getting on. They all seemed to be genuine microexpressions of happiness and joy to be in each other’s company.”
Stanton also noted that Macron and the king appear to have a very good relationship with one another, explaining: “Macron appeared very relaxed and happy during the state banquet. It was clear he appreciated that the king delivered part of his speech in French. His smiles were genuine, with visible crow’s feet and laugh lines. It’s obvious the two get on well and that Macron enjoyed Charles’ company.
“Charles also showed clear respect and rapport toward the French President — their body language included matching and mirroring. I also noticed the King displaying some submissive gestures at times, but it was all positive. Even though he’s the King, he still offered Macron equal respect as both a person and a politician.”
Showbiz Cheat Sheet acknowledges that conditions and cultures can impact body language and is sensitive to all backgrounds.
