Expert Says Victoria Beckham Let Her True Feelings Slip About Her Husband Being Knighted, While David Beckham Was Delighted
It’s official! King Charles has knighted former soccer superstar David Beckham, who will now be known as Sir David Beckham.
The ceremony took place at Windsor Castle on Nov. 4. David’s wife, Victoria — now known as Lady Beckham — alongside three of their children and his parents, were on hand to watch David receive the honor. Victoria is not one to outwardly express her emotions often. However, a body language expert did pick up on something that showed how she felt about the special moment.
Victoria Beckham’s posture during the knighthood ceremony
Judi James is a body language and behavioral expert who has authored more than a dozen books on the subject. She analyzed David and Victoria’s demeanor and shared with Express what she observed.
“Despite the formality of the ritual, David Beckham and the king’s body language made this look like an intimate and friendly occasion,” James explained. “The two men are known to behave like old friends when they meet up in public. Charles kept David chatting for a rather long time, appearing to be the one keen to do the talking and to smile and chuckle as though enjoying himself. David’s face is wreathed in smiles to confirm his delight at finally getting the honor.”
James also picked up on how Victoria seemed to feel as she watched David being knighted. The expert said, “Victoria’s body language behind him is totally sculpted and elegant as she adopts a pose she looks born to: upright like a maternal meercat; focused and proud, with one foot slightly in front of the other to advertise her fashionista credentials.”
When it was announced back in June that David would receive knighthood, the former Spice Girl paid tribute to her hubby on Instagram. She posted a photo with the caption, “You’ve always been my knight in shining armour, but now it’s official.”
David Beckham’s body language showed he was ‘thrilled’ about being knighted
Another expert noticed not only was David “thrilled” to get the honor, but King Charles looked delighted to present it.
Darren Stanton is a body language and behavioral expert with a degree in psychology. He previously worked as a police officer and used his expertise to uncover the truth when interviewing hundreds of suspects. Speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, Stanton told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, “David Beckham’s body language during his knighthood ceremony clearly shows just how thrilled he is.
From the moment he receives the honor, his excitement is unmistakable, and he’s grinning broadly. Close-up shots of his face show every feature lit up in genuine happiness: His cheeks are lifted, his eyes crinkle into crow’s feet, and his whole face is engaged. These subtle but telling signs — the laugh lines and the fully animated expression — speak to authentic joy, not just polite formality. Even a profile view captures his elation; he’s absolutely over the moon, proud, and slightly overwhelmed by the moment.”
The expert continued, “Equally striking is the dynamic between Beckham and King Charles. Their body language reflects a close, warm bond. Charles’ face mirrors Beckham’s delight — his eyes are bright, his smile wide, and the laugh lines around his eyes reveal genuine pleasure.
“This isn’t a ceremonial performance; both men clearly share mutual respect and affection. Watching them interact, it’s obvious that Charles is truly happy to bestow this honour on a good friend. Beckham’s excitement only reinforces the closeness of their relationship.”
Showbiz Cheat Sheet acknowledges that conditions and cultures can impact body language and is sensitive to all backgrounds.
